Hello,
I am a high school junior with a 3.4 GPA, a 29 ACT, a 1270 PSAT and probably a higher SAT once I study and take it. I slightly tend toward computer science, especially with new AI fields opening up in the future, and I’ve looked on many CompSci school ranking sites, and ASU is a pretty well ranked school. However, during this first semester of junior year, my grades decrease a bit drastically, and I and very worried about my chances. ASU CompSci is one of my higher choices right now, so could I get in? I an trying really hard to bring up my 2nd semester (and last bits of 1st semester) grades up. Also, I am out of state. Is ASU expensive?
Your stats are right on target. I don’t see any reason to be rejected. On the other hand, tuition is 27k a year for out of state. That’s not cheap. You’ll want to talk to your parents about that. If you’re going to major in computers, there’s no need for the added expense of going out of state anyway. CS degrees are employable. If there are good in-state options, you’re much better off that way.
ASU is big. It’s the largest student body in the country.
I would advise you to use the scholarship estimator on their website. Seriously, it’ll take like, 7 minutes, and it really does help. My stats are slightly lower than yours, and they gave me enough aid so it was the same price for me to go there as it would be for me to go somewhere in-state.
