A little help please.

3.0 6 Ap/IB (Took 3 this year that haven't impacted my GPA yet) Senior Year.
27 ACT.

Accepted to: Central Michigan, Wayne State, U of M Dearborn and hopefully will be to Arizona state and Miami University (Ohio).

Deferred to: U of M Ann Arbor

Denied to: Michigan State (Might Appeal)

Want to go into Computer engineering/science
Live in Michigan as of now.

What do you think the best school to go to would be? I want to go to ASU cause of their parties, sports, and the fact its a bigger school so it offers more clubs and activities. MSU was a great choice but I got Denied some how. It is out of state but I get around 10,500 scholarship as of now with that ACT score and GPA from them per year. Makes it about the same as staying in state... well according to my calculations.

At the bottom of the first page, click on calculators. On that page, scroll down until you find the link for the financial aid award letter comparison calculator. Run that with your parents, and see what they think about the money.

And don’t let your parents know that you want to go to ASU because of the parties. If I heard that from my kid, he/she would be commuting to the local community college next fall.

If Arizona State costs as much as an in-state school (and you can afford it) I don’t see any reason as to why you shouldn’t go.

(Unless you get into Michigan State)

I mean in general no matter what college you go to there are bound to be parties. The reason I like ASU is because of the amount of money I would get from them and the large school. ALSO the fact that there engineering program is a strong point and RANKED ABOVE MSU’s program.

Anyone else have a thought or 2?

ASU is a wide range school, meaning that it has students ranging from the marginal ones taking extensive remedial courses to the top students who will go on to top PhD programs in their majors. If you decide to take college more seriously than in high school, you could use the opportunity to move to the top of the heap, so to speak. But if you spend all of your time partying and slacking, you may end up fulfilling the less favorable stereotypes of ASU.

Majoring in computer science or engineering will require commitment and motivation to succeed. The partiers and slackers are unlikely to be able to succeed in such a major at ASU or elsewhere.

I have changed my ways… I have become much more motivated and committed to education and at the same time enjoy the very little free time to the fullest extent.
