What are my chances in getting into Phillips Exeter Academy

Hi I am an 8th grader looking to appily to Exeter, my cousin appilyed with a 4.2 GPA and was able to get in as a 10th grader I have straight A’s, except for 6th grade english when I received a B+ but in other classes I obtained A+'s and I have a 3.99 GPA.
I am taking 3 high school courses and gettig A’s in all of them.
I ski, play soccer, and I run (6:00 mile and 29 second 200meter and a 13 second 100meter 10.3 second 55meter hurdles)
Please don’t bash me because I’m not sure if I should even apply.
Thanks for the feedback!

I think your extra curricular look good, as well as your academics. Although I am also an applicant, I’ve heard that you should be well rounded with a little ‘spike’ or a talent in one area. If you have any awards or recognitions in ski, soccer, or track that may improve your chances(because many people ski, and I have skied since I was 2 and on a ski team even though it is not my main sport). Also, if you participate in any clubs or instruments/art related things I would include that as well

Hi! As a current Exeter student, I can say you seem like you’re in pretty great shape as an applicant. I would definitely recommend contacting the cross country/track coaches and expressing your interest and telling them your stats as well, if you haven’t already done so. You can find contact information through the Admissions office or through the Exeter website (which is being updated on monday!)

Thanks thank you very much for your feedback I appreciate it but I do play clarinet, and gymnastics. Also about how many 9th graders are accepted yearly?

Gymnastics caught my eye. If you think you’d be interested in diving for the swim and dive team (many divers began as gymnasts), then you should contact the swim and dive coach! Many high schools and colleges have a tough time finding enough divers for their teams and are often super motivated to get them to come to their schools.

That is very helpful and I really appreciate it!

You should definitely flaunt sports skills, since you seem like a top notch athlete. I’m sure one B two years ago will not make a difference, and your grades look amazing. It also helps that you’ve got family at the school. I’m applying as well this year, so I’m not the best to respond to these types of things, but you’re looking great for consideration.

Thanks so much Monica!!!
