What are my chances into these universities?

Hey! So I’m a senior in an IB high school. My unweighted gpa is a 3.08 ( i know its shit) and my weighted gpa is 5.6. My ACT score is a 31 and my rank in the county is 1133/12769 which is in the 92nd percentile. I have quite a few extracurricular activities (clubs, dance, tennis, etc) and pretty good essays. What are my chances for getting into these following schools?

University of Miami (scholarship needed)
Boston University (scholarship needed)
UNC Chapel Hill
UF
Case Western
NYU
Tufts
Nova - 7 year or 8 year dental (dual admission)
Emory
Wake Forest
Northeastern
Tulane
University of Illinois at Chicago - 8 year dental
UVA
University of Maryland
Any UC schools (UCSD, USC, UCLA, etc)
UT Austin

Please help me out
Thank you!

Your unweighted GPA will make admission to these schools a reach:

Boston University
UNC Chapel Hill
Case Western
NYU
Tufts
Emory
Wake Forest
Northeastern
Tulane
UVA
Any UC schools (UCSD, USC, UCLA, etc)
UT Austin

The UC’s give no financial aid to out of state students. So unless you are a CA resident you can cross those off.

What is your UC GPA? You need a minimum 3.4 to apply to a UC if OOS.

USC, of course, is not a UC, (unless you mean UC Santa Cruz) but for OOS, the UC’s are only a bit less expensive than USC. I think you are a reach for USC. (31 is their ACT “average”)
For the UC’s you will be hard pressed at the “top 5” and would have a better shot at UCSC, UCR or UCM. Irvine and Davis are possible. The UC’s are more GPA focused than test score, and as noted, you might not even make the minimum cut.

One question would be why you would need a scholarship at BU but not, say, NYU? Make sure you are realistic about costs.
The other question is whether you have a compelling story (not for me, but for the school) as to why your GPA doesn’t reflect your test score ability. That will be something that can help your app.

There is a less chance for me going to NYU. I’m just applying there just to see if I get in. The schools I really want to go to are BU, UM, and UNC

And I just really messed up my GPA freshman year because it took me a while to adjust to the rigorous IB curriculum

I don’t have any experience with BU, UM or UNC admissions. My only advice would be select what is important to you in a school - location or size or cost - and find a range of schools that fit the most important criteria.

Good luck. You will find a great situation, especially if you can be flexible.

Don’t apply to a school, wasting time and money, on a school where you won’t be going.

Some schools, like UF and Nova, will use your 5.6. That’ll help.
Most others will either use your 3.08 or your
If you need financial aid, cross out the UC’s. If you want California, you can run the NPC’s on SDSU, CSU Chico, Cal Poly SLO, Sonoma State, which are relatively residential (since you’re coming from OOS, being on campus with others would matter more.) These are less expensive than UC’s. Chapman, Occidental, or Whittier may have scholarships (run the NPC).
UNC CH, UT Austin, and UI-Chicago Dental are highly unlikely.
Apply to more than UF; FSU Honors may be a good possibility for you, and, depending on what you’re interested in, perhaps NCF.
Your list has no safety and very few matches (only UF that I can see.)

I do not need financial aid. And the schools I posted are all my reach schools. My safety schools are USF and UCF so I have that covered.

ok excellent then.
Do you want more OOS match schools? For instance, Penn State is ranked the same as UF. While your parents may not want to pay way more for that, if you apply by Nov 30 it’s basically a safety; Schreyer (the honors college) is a reach for everyone but you could apply.
Along those lines, UMD CP, VTech, Indiana U, UVermont are matches and safeties (respectively).
ASU Barrett is another possibility.
