What are my chances of admission at UVA?

I’m a rising senior at a virginia hs. My GPA is currently a 3.8 (sub-par for this particular univeristy, I’m aware.) However I did score a 36 on my ACT and 1500+ on my SAT.

I was wondering if my test scores would help compensate for my GPA.

Additionally, I’m from central VA rather than NOVA, which I was informed also improves my chances.

Is that a weighted 3.8? I checked naviance for our school and with over 1200 apps in 5 years no one got in with less than a weighted 4.0 even the ones with 36 except for 1 person with a 3.2/1400 but I suspect they had a major hook like athlete. Being from central VA probably helps a little though. If you think you can get all A’s first semester you might be better off applying RD so you can show a bit of improvement on your GPA. I think you are right on the border honestly so having great grades 1st semester and hopefully some nice extra curriculars could easily make the difference for you. Check in with your counselor though they know the stats for your school in terms of UVA perhaps GPAs are lower from your school.
