I am currently at a top private school in Miami and would be applying for 11th grade. I have a relatively low GPA, 3.5, and I am taking the PSAT tomorrow (all my practice test had me scoring in the 93+ percentile. I currently run a record label and play soccer, tennis, and crew as well as I am a “photographer and videographer”. I have heard that the acceptance rate, especially for junior year, is extremely low and I was wondering what you guys thought? I am also confident that my short answers were really good as well as the recommendation forms.

May I ask why only Lawrenceville?
Most boarding schools take few, if any, new students for 11th grade. With your grades and scores, I think it will be a long-shot. Have you considered repeating 10th grade?
Well my father attended Lawrenceville for a PG and so I grew up hearing about Lawrenceville and reading the Lawrentian also the courses offered at Lawrenceville are spectacular and the sports are also good. @GMC2918
That’s great that your father went there @AlternateVisions - legacy status could help. As I’m sure you’re aware however, there are MANY schools that have spectacular course offerings and good sports. Because of the difficulty of getting an 11th grade spot, would you consider applying to other schools? Or repeating 10th grade as @sgopal2 suggests? If you really want to go to boarding school, you may want to cast a wider net.
My PSAT came back scoring 97 percentile in English and 80 percentile in Math. The interview also went well, my diversity was one topic they kept mentioning (half Mexican, half German). What do you guys think my chances are of getting in?
Weird question. It I might be able to help reccomend a school or two based off this- are you a guy or girl?
I am a a guy @cababe97
can u pm me? I think I might have a good recommendation for you @AlternateVisions
