Hey guys.
I am currently a sophomore at a private day school in New Jersey. I just applied to Lawrenceville (boarding school in Northern NJ for those of you who don't know) for my junior year and I am really nervous about getting in. I applied a little late because things were really busy with my brother applying to colleges and I wasn't positive I wanted to do this til recently. Freshman year was a rough year for me in a few subjects but I balanced it out by getting good grades in others. I've been doing a lot better this year. My quarter grades usually range from like 88s-93s, except for Precalc...82-84...I'm working on that though. I play 3 varsity sports, I do a lot of community service and volunteering and I am currently in the middle of a 9 month Yoga Teacher Training Apprenticeship; so come August, I will be a certified teacher and I plan on teaching sick kids at the local Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House as a way of healing them. So, I have a lot going on. Being completely honest, do you think I have a shot at getting in? Also, on average, how many kids do you think apply to a school like Lawrenceville for their junior year?

After looking at some of the posts on here I realize I didn't really go into enough detail. And Im also feeling like my chances at Lawrenceville just dropped a lot after reading all these posts lol...great. Well to go into detail. - I do not remember my freshman year grades too well.
But sophomore year 1st quarter-
Honors English- 89
Honors US History- 90
Honors French III- 93
Chemistry- 91
Precalc (gahhh)- 82
(^ I realize that will hurt me however at my school pre calc is considered a Standard Junior course/Easy Senior course and seeing as Im a sophomore..you can do the math. (NO pun intended lol)

2nd quarter-
Honors English- 89
Honors US History- 89
Honors French III- 93
Chemistry- 90
Precalc- 84

Midterm grades
Honors English- 89
Honors US History- 86
Honors French III- 95
Chemistry- 86
Precalc- not going to say it, it just was NOT good lol

I sent my PSAT scores as opposed to my SSAT scores just because it was easier:
I don't know my exact scores but

but I do know I got in the 60s for most of them which is apparently pretty good

Im really confident about my essays & teacher recs and I do tihink coming from a private school that is in pretty close affiliation with Lville will help

ECs-
-member of the Red Cross
-volunteer/CCD teacher at my church
-volunteer at the Special Olympics at Villanova every year
-Admissions Ambassador at school
-9 month Yoga teacher training apprenticeship where I will be working with sick children from the local Childrens Hospital/local Ronald Mcdonald House as a form of healing/exercise for them
- volunteer at the Mercy Center a few towns away from me
- member of the school newspaper
-member of the school yearbook
-member of Habitat for Humanity

60's for SSATs, no not very good. Applying late will hurt you a lot, most schools will only consider late applicants for waitlist positions (not sure about L'ville). Your EC's are really good, though.

Well its harder to get a good one applying as a sophomore ( I am also), If they need someone like you in their 2011 class or maybe a lacrosse player or something you have a good chance. Its all about what they need when applying for junior yr.

So no one will be able to chance you accurately, you don't have long to wait. Good luck!

No 60s on each section of the psats lol...which would put me at about a 195 which i think ispretty above average from what i hear but i really dont know much about it

Ya I don't know much about em either, I got in the high 50 and 60s. Could have done better lol..it was the saturday morning at the end of our winter break. Cold and sleepy lol. But ya, those are good enough.

Na..Im a young sophomore supposedly. So I'm just applying as a repeat sophomore just to improve chances. I really don't want to go back to my school..so ya.
