I think the average lately for CWRU is 1440 for the new SAT, but your reading scores is good and your AP scores are outstanding. and you are combining IB and AP curriculum, thats outstanding! Wow. Did you take the SAT subject exams ? You have way more hard curriculum under your belt than most high school kids so you are well prepared for any college, including CWRU. Its hard to get 6 or 7 on IB exams. Note that CWRU will give you a lot of credits for
what you have accomplished. Good luck.
I want to major in either Biology or Cognitive Science. I am taking both the AP and IB Biology exams because in my school each IB class/exam we take has a corresponding AP exam that we have to take.
I tried to schedule an Alumni Ambassador interview, but they said that they have a high volume of requests and that I should be patient, but decisions come out in about 3 weeks. Should I try to see if I can schedule a phone interview with an admissions counselor instead?
I think it is always a good idea to make contact with the admissions counselor. If not a full fledged interview, at least to touch base and let them know that you are very interested.
I would not say your chances are low. I would also not say it’s a sure thing, but I would say you have a very solid chance. You look to have a lot of strong areas in your application. Some factors might be out of your control, like who else is applying in this years application pool, etc. So, I think it is definitely worth it for you to let them know if your interest.
@bopper Most high school students in the IB program take AP exams in the sciences, as some schools give more
credit for them than IB exams. IB exams are either standard level or higher level and not every IB high school offers HL in all subjects, so its a good idea for IB students to pay and take AP exams. Anyone can take an AP exam; home schooled students, IB students, or AP students. There is no requirement to take an AP class, in order to take an AP exam and do well. All it requires is studying. ! We recommend our local students double up on science exams,
as it will mean a lot more credits at a school like CWRU and others. It also demonstrates mastery of biology to take both IB and AP exams. My own kids did this to some degree, but not as much as the OP. To me this means the OP is highly motivated to take both IB and AP exams. Good for him or her.
@wizwind I would be really amazed if you don’t get in provided that you are not trying to get into computers or engineering. I say that because those majors are very hard to get into at Case. But if you are looking at those I still think you have a good chance, its just not a lock.
