This is my first time on College Confidential forums, so bear with me.

I was just wondering if any alumni or people with experience with the college admissions process could tell me where I stand among the competition.

As of now, I'm a junior in a Canadian public secondary school.

Here are some of my stats thus far:

GPA: 4.0 (93% high school average so far)

Academic Rigor: I take 4 of 6 AP courses offered at my school - Math (Adv. Functions & I plan on taking Calculus & Vectors next year), English (Literature & Composition), Biology, Economics ** All of these courses I plan on taking next year

No SAT I score yet I hope to get in the 750-800 range for all categories

No SAT II scores yet I hope to get in the 750-800 range for Biology and Math I

Stats as in SAT scores? I’m writing the SAT reasoning test on October and I’m writing the SAT subject tests next week in June and again in November

Sorry, I forgot to mention some things. For DECA, I won regional awards and placed in Provincials, while my chapter placed in Internationals. For Model UN, I forgot to mention that I helped found the club last year. My team has gone to quite a few conferences/events and we have won awards. My volunteering has been very consistent - every week I volunteer at my church - and during the summer, I work as a lifeguard and swimming instructor and volunteer for a city councilor. I am most likely going to get a reference letter from this city councilor as well as from my principal, since I have worked with him as a part of the school’s improvement planning team. My essay will definitely have something to do with my passion in human rights and how that connects to why I am applying to the college.

Also, my school doesn’t rank students like those in the U.S. But I know for certain that I’m in the top 10% of my class, as the highest average so far has been a 96% (the kid also took some easy courses like Phys. Ed/Fitness) sorry, we also don’t use a weighted GPA scoring system.

**On the common app, can I write down the school awards I have gotten for lack of awards attained outside of school? I’m quite worried about this detail

I think you have a solid chance. Your grades are top notch, and if your SAT is as high as expected, it will be hard to turn you down.
Keep in mind, however, that admissions into Cornell are highly selective, and there is no guarantee you will be accepted.
For now, just focus on living up to your word on the SAT. Good luck
And please chance me back. I’m the Michigan ross thread
