In SAT, I have a 730 in Math and 750 in Reading. In ACT, I have a 31 in science and math, 33 in reading, and 35 in English. My weighted GPA is 4.676 and I believe my unweighted is around 3.8. I am in the top 5% of my class. I took several STEM courses throughout high school. I have an extracurricular where I have a leadership role and I participate in the astronomy club at my community.
GPA is pretty good, what classes are you taking?
I don’t recall seeing any reports for CS+Astro so it’s hard to chance you. Your scores are at the high end of the middle 50% for LAS admissions, so I’d think it’s a good target major. Maybe a very good chance if you have other hooks like URM, major donor, etc. Not a safety school major, though, because CS+x might be more selective than LAS/Astronomy in general.
Hello, thank you for the answers. Some stem courses I am taking are AP Physics C, AP Calculus BC, an honors tech course, and Computer Programming 3-4 (my school does not offer an AP computer course). I also made a mistake and I am applying for regular decision, which I know can impact admission chances.
Sorry, I forgot to add this in the previous post. I am also wondering how competitive the major is compared to other majors in UIUC.
Hey! I’m a prospective CS + Astro Transfer currently attending a community college in Illinois. I visited UIUC last week for Transfer Orange and Blue day. LAS CS is competitive, but the application process is very holistic. I think you have a good chance based on the info you provided, but remember that GPA does not mean everything, especially if you are above the requirement.
