I am freaking out now that its almost time for me to apply for schools. I am graduating 2011 and Fordham has always been one of my top schools. do i stand a chance? Also what is the easiest major to get into? I want to major in journalism but would it be easier for me to be accepted if i did undecided? Also if my mom pays the full ride would my chances increase? I am interested in the Lincoln center campus. When should I go for an interview? Me being catholic does it help getting admitted?
GPA: 2.3
SAT: 1410
I have 200 hours community service hours at the Local hospital and I have interned for two consecutive years at a very prestigious fashion Magazine in New york.
Are my chances good?

Zero. Go away ■■■■■.

The average gpa for a Fordham student is currently a 3.7. There’s a huge difference between that and a 2.3. However, I had a 3.5 with pretty high SATs, good ecs, Fordham was my first choice etc and was accepted, and I have heard of many others accepted with below a 3.7… so I would say this: work extremely hard to bring your gpa up as much as possible next year and hope for the best. I would not call your chances good but it is possible. Show a lot of interest in Fordham, go on the tours, talk to a professor, etc. You never know. Being catholic does not affect your chances, but I’m not sure if being full-pay will (at some colleges it does, at others it doesn’t.) Good luck! :)

He/she’s not necessarily a ■■■■■. He/she posted a similar message on the FIT thread.

I agreee that your GPA is too low right now. The average GPA may be a 3.7 per Fordham, but people do get in with GPAs around 3.5 (typically with strong SAT/ACT and activities). I’m not sure if it is possible to get your GPA up to where Fordham is a realistic school for you. Religion plays no part in admissions decisions. But best of luck wherever you end up.

Is that SAT for 2 or 3 subjects?
Your gpa is low, and to be honest, having that many volunteer hours could easily work against you because it looks like you put your volunteering and internship above your grades.
