What are my chances of getting into Howard University?

<p>I am currently a senior whose DREAM is to attend Howard! I have had family alumni and as an African American who has attend majority white schools in the suburbs I think its time for a culture shock. I want to major in broadcast journalism or public relations.</p>

<p>My only concern are my grades. My GPA is very low (2.0-2.4) I have been working extremely hard to boost my grades. Below is a review of my transcripts:</p>

<p>FRESHMAN YEAR: (B-,A,C-,C,D+,C,B+,B,B-)
SOPHMORE YEAR: (B,C,D+,C,C-,D+,C-)
JUNIOR YEAR: (C+,B+C+,B+,C-,C-,C,B,B+)
SENIOR YEAR FIRST QUARTER WHICH I WILL SEND TO COLLEGES NEXT WEEK:
(A,B+,B,A-,A-,B+)
[NO AP'S, JUST REGULAR COLLEGE PREP AND A FEW HONORS CLASSES)</p>

<p>I got a 1310 on the SATs ( 400+ in each section) but I am retaking them in December. I am reaching for at least a 1500 ! I am studier very hard as we speak.</p>

<p>I have MANY extra curriculums, varsity sport team participation, internships for a fashion designer and the united negro college fund, work at experience at abercrombie, aeropostale, environmental massachusetts and others. I also have volunteer experience at a nursing home. I am currently apart of a college workshop at Northeastern University called lead. </p>

<p>I am a first generation/low income student. My father passed away when I was 2. My mom is also unemployed so thats why I strive for success so much!</p>

<p>I have already finished my essay. I have had others review my essay and they absolutely love it! I wrote about my family and I being homeless at such a young age, how it impacted my life and how I want to start a foundation for underprivilged children in college. I've had admissions counselors from Northeastern read and they loved it. everyone who has read it so far loved it.</p>

<p>My recommendations are also good.</p>

<p>HONEST OPINIONS (I TAKE CRITICISM WELL) Do I have a chance at being admitted to Howard? This school is my first choice and I will cry my eyes out if i do not get accepted LOL. </p>

<p>I need answers quick please :) I am applying next week !!!!</p>

<p>In the 1st place from my experience pls don’t make this school ur 1st choice b/c their undergrad admission office sucks they loose ur transcript 10 times before they finally claim that you sent it.
I mean things r totally redicioulous let me tell u something the admission will send denial letter and the nursing dept is gonna send u acceptance letter that is how much of a mess they are.
When u try to talk to the dean about all the thing that goes on the admission office nobody seems to actually care or even listen to students. They will just tell u the President/dean is too busy at the moment and they will let u talk to some assistant who is going to tell u the same exact mess the admission office has been telling you.
After all you give up about Howard and u leave them alone month after the nursing program starts they start emailing you saying pls disregard our email we sent u about ur acceptance that was an error. I MEAN COME ON EVERYTHING THEY DO IS AN ERROR! COME ON THE SCHOOL GOT TO BE A LITTLE MORE PROFESSIONAL THAN THIS THEY ALREADY HAVE BAD NAME OUT THERE EVERYONE WHO HAS ANY CONTACT WITH THAT SCHOOL ALREADY KNOWS THAT UNDER GRAD ADMISSION OFFICE IS FALLING APART!!
That school is really falling apart save ur money and try someother school trust me it’s not worth the hussel that u have to go through that office and at the end they will lost ur stuff u will be out of luck and fraustrated!!</p>
