I am a 16 year old girl applying for the 2016-2017 school year as a junior boarder. I will not be needing financial aid.
I have been a girl scout since kindergarten (this is my 11th year) and I got my silver award last year. I have played guitar for about a year and played piano for three years. I have played basketball for two years and am interested in starting to play golf. My freshman year I was in Interact club. This year (my sophomore year) I am in model judiciary. I also did JV cheerleading for my school this year. I volunteer at my local assisted living home regularly. I also have a part time job at Target.
I am in all honors classes at school. I am in Spanish 3 and Algebra 2 this year. My GPA for last year was a 3.47 and my first quarter grades for this year were all As and 2 Bs.
I am a very hard worker and love getting involved in my school and community. I have a skype interview scheduled for L’ville and I just went on a tour there today.
What are my chances of getting in to Lawrenceville? And if you go there, do you have any advice or tips on what they really look for in students and on applications?
Thanks!
They take very few students in the Fourth form year, especially boarders. In most years only a handful of new fourth formers will enter. Have you considered applying as a repeat 10th grader (more spots open)?
Your GPA looks a bit low. What was your SSAT score? They also like to see students who will contribute to sports.
Actually, I think you have a very good shot assuming there are some spaces. Very few kids work anymore. This is something I would highlight. Volunteer work is also important if it is real. Your school must not weight it’s honors classes?
