My grades have been excruciatingly average for the duration of my high school career. I’m currently on the precipice of my junior year with an already dismal GPA of approximately 3.6. However, I’ve recently earned a “c” in an AP class, and am aware that this will hurt my chances of getting into college, but not to what extent. I got a 29 on the ACT without studying, so I should hopefully be able to get that up. I’m in varsity sports, and am somewhat involved in the community. How much has this grade hurt me? How (If possible) can I balance out such a transgression? What are my chances of getting into a decent college?
There are a lot of decent schools! Your GPA is below BYU’S admission average, but your ACT is right at average. They take the highest score, so definitely try again! They will give extra consideration for having taken more difficult classes, though. Have some back-ups, just in case. My D has high GPA and ACT, but she is still applying to safeties like Utah State because you just never know for sure what the admissions people will say. Good luck on your retake! Most do better
