So I just finished my junior year in high school and plan on applying for a Texas A&M. I have a unweighted GPA of 3.88 (maybe higher) and an SAT score of 1480. My SAT score was low because I re wrote my essay towards the end of the time and didn’t have time to develop it correctly sadly. My math was a 600 and my CR was a 460. I have 120 hours of community service and I’m in th Varsity Basketball Team and also part of the Engineering Program at my School. I take college courses and pass them with high B’s. What are my chances?
I also am graduating distinguished honors and am part of honor society.
Definitely retake the SAT or try the ACT. Are you a Texas resident?
Yes I’m a Texas Resident.
I’m also a Hispanic.
Well, if you can get that SAT score up, particularly the CR and Math, you should have a decent chance. Read as much as you can and study grammar. Sign up for the October date of the SAT (I think it’s October) and study hard until then.
are you applying to the engineering school ? if so, you’ll need a more competitive sat score
but if you’re top 25% of your class and you bring up your sat score just a little more (not completely sure what the requirements are), you should be auto admit for the school as a whole (though not necessarily auto admit for the major of your choice )
Oh ok thanks. I’ll make sure to get a higher score next time and I’m top 11% of my class. I’m just scared I won’t get accepted.
