From what info you’ve given, I’m not very confident that you’d be able to get into these schools at all. All of these schools have superstar applicants, and even they don’t all get in. From what I can glean from your PSAT, you’re way under even the 25th percentile for these schools, and having 0 ECs will hurt you majorly without any especially extenuating circumstances (poverty, severe family member’s illness that you need to be their caretaker, etc). I’m not sure that you’d be able to partake in any meaningful ECs so late in your college career (these schools like to see you have a substantial time commitment to the activities that you’re passionate about), and even if you could get your SAT or ACT to a score within or above their 25th and 75th percentiles, almost all their applicants have stellar test scores so you wouldn’t stand out really. You’d have to bank on beyond-amazing essays, and even that would be an extremely long shot. I’m sorry if this isn’t what you wanted to hear ):.
Just remember that going to top schools isn’t everything, you aren’t going to have a terrible career and life after college just because it’s not in the top 20 of US News. Plenty of people get by and have very successful lives going to their state schools and the like, so don’t think you’re doomed to fail in life because you’re not. My parents didn’t go to an Ivy or anything near that caliber, but they managed to make well for themselves and don’t have to worry about finances.
as a parent, i can speak of my D experience with U of Penn…she did not get an offer, but her stats were
graduated HS 2015
SAT 760R 700M 710W
Math2 subject test 760
Chemistry subject test 680
scored 5’s on all AP tests (Chem, Calc BC, Bio, Psyc, Eng) a 4 on History
national merit finalist
mock trial 4years
cross country 2 years (injured, otherwise would have been 4 years)
track 2 years (same injury)
stage crew 3 years
nhs
had an alumni interview
she got accepted to all the other schools she applied…CMU, Drexel (full ride), TCNJ were probably the most competitive
my opinion on the ivy’s…pretty much everyone has stellar ‘numerical’ stats (read that somewhere, don’t remember where though), but they are looking to fill out their student profiles…diversify where the students are from…choose students who ‘stand out’ in other interesting ways, besides academics…just my opinion based on my experience…
Thanks so much, really appreciate it
also just wanted to point out the PSAT claimed I was in the 65th percentile (I know that isn’t very good either, and I am currently studying for the new SATs)
also about the ecs I tried my best but both my parents work full time, so I was hoping after I gt my licence I will have a ride
