What are my chances of getting into the University of California Santa Barbara?

I recently toured UCSB and I fell in love with it. My brother graduated there a couple of years ago. I lived in California until after my freshman year, when we moved. I have yet to finish my senior year, but my cumulative gpa is 3.58. I scored a 24 composite on my ACT and a 1670 on my SAT. I have been involved in dance for two years and I am in a club this year. I have been active in my church for my entire high school life. How likely am I to get in?

I have taken mostly all honors and AP courses. Last year I took AP Language and Composition and AP US History. This year I am taking AP Literature and Composition and AP Government.

Well, the average UC GPA for UCSB is around 3.85-4.0. The avg Sat score is around 1800-1900.

And if you moved, I think you are out of state applicant? Which would hinder your chances even more...

UCSB is getting way more competitive lately... your chances are a bit slim.

I'm applying for 2010 and although UCSD is probably more in terms of my stats, this is by far my first choice school. Just wanted to tell you, good luck. it truly is a great school.

definitely work on pulling up your GPA and SAT scores though.
Make sure you are calculating your UC GPA though. It tends to be a bit lower than what people normally think it is, because your PE classes won't count etc. You senior grades/freshman grades don't factor in, either.

If your UC GPA is 3.5, my guess is you'll want a 2000 if you're out of state. :/ I'd study all november and take it again in December. What are your subject tests?

Oh, that doesn't sound good at all.

I'm taking my subject tests on November 1st.

And I'm not sure if I can afford another set of SATs.

My UC GPA seems to be 3.4 if I did this right.

bring up my post please!
