I have applied to San Francisco State University, CSU-Fresno, CSU-Sacramento, and plan on applying to San Jose State; SFSU being my first choice. I am kind of pessimistic and nervous whether I will be accepted at all, if I get accepted into at least one I will definitely go there.

What do you think my chances are? I have a fairly good 3.96 cumulative GPA, but a low SAT score of 1410 (480 Reading, 500 Math and 430 Writing). I just took the SAT again because I know I could do better, and plan on taking the ACT this month.

Thanks for your time!

3.96 is as calculated for CSU (10th grade and later a-g courses, up to 8 semesters of honors/AP courses with C or higher grades given +1 weighting)?

CSUs use an eligibility index described here:

Note that CSUs admit by major; here are SJSU’s thresholds for the fall 2012 freshman class:

Thanks! Found out my eligibility index is about 4600, hopefully I get into at least one!

With those stats, I’d say you have a good chance at UC Merced and UC Riverside.

That is good to know I have a shot at some schools, thanks!

Note that the SAT-based eligibility index uses CR+M, not CR+M+W.

The only way you have an eligibility index of 4600 with your SAT CR+M = 980 is if your GPA is 4.525, which is rather difficult to get due to the 8 semester limitation on honors points.
