I'm in 10th grade living in Asia. I'm going to write the SAT next year and my score is sure to be 2300+. Well, in our school we don't have some weighted or unweighted GPA like the American system, but we have a CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) which is on a 10-point scale. My CGPA throughout 9th grade was 10, and will continue to be the same this year too. Also, in our school we can't exactly choose our subjects or courses - they are fixed for all students of that class. For 10th grade we have English, Math (including algebra, geometry, arithmetic, trigonometry, statistics and probability), Science (including physics, chemistry and biology), Social Science (including history, geography, democratic politics and economics) and 1 Second Language (mine is french). Also I'm planning to write some AP/IB exams in 11th or 12th grade, but I'm not sure exactly which ones should I write and how many of them (remember we don't have AP courses in our school, I'll have to study it on my own). Anyway, in short, I'm quite good on the academics side. And in the coming years I'm going to get some work experience and going to do some community service. I'm also appearing for the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), this December (not sure if the colleges recognize that exam).

But my main problem comes in the extra-curriculars. I don't have much ECs other than the work experience and the community service. I know colleges do need students to have some ECs but will that SEVERELY affect my chances? I also know that it's really hard to get into UC Berkeley, but I feel I'm academically capable of studying there.

My other dream colleges include MIT, Stanford, Harvard and Caltech (I know that these are even more hard to get into, but anyways.....).

P.S. My sister is currently studying in UC Berkeley. I hope that would somehow increase my chances of getting there..... :P

Thanks in advance.
