My school has a 800+ API

I'm Asian/Pacific Islander and applied as undeclared major.

UCSB: High Match
UCSD: Low Match

Relax, UCSB results come out very soon.

UCSD: match
UCSB: safety

UCSB: High Match
UCSD: Low Reach

Your SAT is your major weakness, especially when both schools have a 1900+ average SAT. (SD = 1991, SB = 1922) Your decent ECs and good GPA and course rigor helps offset that however.

UCSD: Reach
UCSB: High match

Try a test-optional school on top of that…

UCSD - Low Reach
UCSB - Match

I meant UCSD to be Low Reach, sorry.

im in the EXACT same position as you
take a look at my stats :stuck_out_tongue: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1467468-help-fellow-uc-applicant-out.html</a>
ahah, i think we have a good chancce for ucsb tho, well just hoping…good luck!

Your SAT scores are strangely low, given your high class rank and your good AP scores.

Fortunately for you, I think that the SAT has become less important in the selection process.

I don’t agree with that trend, but that trend is in your favor.

I would guess that you won’t get into San Diego, because it has become so competitive at Berkeley and UCLA that San Diego is getting tougher and tougher to get into.

hey, did you get into sd?

Floridadad,
the SAT is more important in the selction process because it is a universal test where everyone is graded on the same basis. GPA is less important becasue some schools are easier than others, (my friends school gives A’s for an 88%, i got a B for a 89.45% at my school), some schools don’t even go by the 4.0 scale, some have a 6.0 scale, and some have a 100 scale, some schools give extra weight to honors, mine doesn’t. My point is that the gpa of one student may not reflect their acidemic level compared to another student because all schools are differnt, making the gpa different. Everyone takes the SAT or ACt and is graded on the same rules by one company, making the SAT and ACt an accurate representation of a student’s level compared to the rest of the world

I did get into UCSD, now waiting till tuesday for UCSB.

Could someone please estimate my chance of getting into UCSB as well? It’s been my dream school for a while now, but ive been rejected from UCSC, UCSD, and UCD so far so i’ve completely given up hope.
