What are my chances of getting into UGA?

Here is a little background info about me. I am a high school junior/ rising senior (class of 2013) and 17 years old. I am also an african american, primarily of african descent (my parents are nigerian). Over the years I've been determining what college i want to go to and it seems that i really want to go to UGA (i have other schools in mind btw). I think i have every thing that is required for admissions (gpa, courses, etc) but i am just stumped on my SAT scores. I am a horrible test taker! fThough it was my first time taking it back in Jan., i was so disappointed by my score (1280 overall ). It just made me seem less intelligent than my classmates who got higher scores like 1600 and above. Now, I am by no means a genius, but this test just makes me question my intelligence. I do fairly well in all my classes, but that's just because i try and put effort into all my classes no matter how hard it is. I'm just so scared, i don't know what to do. I really want to go to UGA because they have a nice broadcast journalism program. Here is a general high school info:

I've taken 2 AP classes so far (lang. and U.S.) and 2 honors ( 10th grade lit/comp H, and spanish 2 H) and I will be taking AP Lit. and Spanish 3 H next year. i have at least a 3.7 or 3.8, (I'm not too sure). I've been in at least 4 clubs since high school (S.T.A.R.S, DECA, Pres. of the Female Open Forum, and Beta club). I've also done soccer for 2 years and i volunteer at my mother's hospital during the summers. I don't know if this is enough to get in, but by all means, I am willing to take the advice the you guys give me in order to increase my chances of acceptance. I would especially love to hear from UGA students. Thank you and God Bless .

P.S. please no rude comments. I am really serious about my future after high school and critical responses will surely help

I’m a bad test taker too, always have been. UGA’s >Bottom< 25% of SAT scores is a 1680. Now they might be able to work with a 1550-1600 assuming you have good grades/class rank etc. (Someones gotta be in the lower 25%, right?) But a 1280 is going to be far off. I’m assuming you’re going to be a senior this year, so I would advise you to study hard this summer and take BOTH the SAT and ACT on their first offerings of the new school year. Aside from that, you should also look into applying to schools which don’t require test scores from applicants (Granted, they’re not ALL well known big time schools like UGA, but it’ll have to do) The list of them is here: http://www.fairtest.org/university/optional

That list is, for the most part, right. However check on the schools website you’re interested in for sure, as I’ve come across a few on there that still do require test scores…

Thnx for the advice and yes I will be a senior this fall. I guess I just need top study harder for the both test.
