Currently at a California CC first semester, I know it’s early but I really want to know my chances. Berkeley is my first choice and I would love to hear your opinions.

That’s what I have planned so far. Do you think I will have a shot?
Also, I didn’t really do well in high school. Do UC’s look at your high school transcript after you are admitted or before?
Personal statement:
I was born in China (now, I know my biological parents and have kept a good relationship with them) and was adopted at the age of 10. Coming to the U.S not knowing any English was very difficult and had to overcome many obstacles.
Do you think I have a big chance of getting into UC Berkeley Haas Business undergrad?
They dont look at high school grades. Doesnt look too bad, just maintain your GPA and get involved in the community like you’re doing. A lot of transfers are on Linkedin and wouldnt mind helping you out with more specific advice if you shoot them a message. Personal statement sounds good, but I think they changed the questions for this year. Haas also has their own question where they want to hear about your career goals, what you want to do in the future, etc.
You have a lot of time and thats easily the most valuable asset for any student no matter what school they’re at, feel free to shoot me a message if you need more specific advice or guidance.
Also to be honest I would quit that waitress job and try to do something more related to what you want to do in the future, if you want to do finance then get a finance internship, marketing get a marketing internship, consulting get a consulting internship, etc. etc. The #1 thing that no one tells transfer students applying to Haas is that there is a lot of pressure to get a good internship the summer of Junior and Senior year, these berkeley kids have the advantage in that they’ve known this for two years and have been prepping for it the whole time, theyve been doing a bunch of random internships so that they can beef up their resume in order to get the best internships. Meanwhile transfers often lack that experience and have a harder time competing for internships.
Obviously working in the restaurant industry is tough work and it requires a certain work ethic to be successful, but recruiters are looking for the most risk adverse candidate possible, thus they look for people with the most relevant experience.
