What do you guys think? What are my chances?

Wait another semester. Your High School stats were too low for those schools. Your first semester of college was not challenging enough. Take at least 16 credits of the most difficult schedule you can take, get a 4.0, and do something passionately (that you love) for an EC, just to be looked at. For most of those colleges it is more competitive to transfer than for regular admissions. Use your desire to work hard, follow your dream, but it will not be easy. Good luck, others have succeeded.

I cannot wait another semester(I will finish my second semester at Hunter). I need to transfer as soon as possible so that I be transferred for fall 2012.

Hey Danilo, you really do have to wait another two semesters before you even attempt. Your HS stats were mediocre and your current college classes weren’t too challenging. Here is a breakdown:

University of Chicago - 1%
Harvard - 0%
Stanford - 0%
Yale - 0%
Cornell - 5%
Johns Hopkins - 2%
Cal Tech - 0%
UPENN - 1%
Washington University in St. Louis - 5%
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - 65%
Duke University - 2%
Brown - 0%
Tufts University - 10%
Vanderbilt - 15%
University of Notre Dame - 10-15%
Carnegie Mellon - 15%

High School Statistics:
AP U.S. History - 3 – a 3 on AP US? Really? Probably the easiest AP here.
AP European History - 3 - See above.
AP Psychology - 4 - Acceptable if you had 5s on the above.
AP Biology - 4 - Good.
SAT Subject Test U.S. History - 680 - 680 is very mediocre.
SAT Subject Test Biology - 660 - 660 is mediocre.
SAT Subject Test Physics - 600 - 600 is mediocre.
SAT: 1950/2400 - Mediocre.
High School GPA: 95.1/96 Unweighted ; 95.1/100 Weighted - You went to either Dewey or Madison, both of which are uncompetitive. Your GPA doesn’t say much coming from these schools.
High School Rank: 9/320 - See above.
Academy of Finance Graduate (Program for select students at my High School) - This program isn’t that selective.

Current College GPA: 3.91/4.0
College Classes Taken:
Philosophy
Pre-calculus
General Chemistry
English 120

You’ve taken FOUR classes. 3 of which are basically the most intro material and a 3,91 means you probably got 3 A’s and an A-. Pretty good, but definitely not enough for most colleges to accept you.

Awards/Honors:
National Honor Society - Easy to get into.
National Italian Honor Society - See above.
AP Scholar - See above.
Excellence in Physics Award - If this is a school wide award, it isn’t too great considering you went to an uncompetitive HS.
Excellence in Biology Award - If this is a school wide award, it isn’t too great considering you went to an uncompetitive HS.
Award in Psychology (State Award) - This may be something redeeming that I would definitely play up.
Excellence in Accounting Award - If this is a school wide award, it isn’t too great considering you went to an uncompetitive HS.
Excellence in Computer Science Award - If this is a school wide award, it isn’t too great considering you went to an uncompetitive HS.
Excellence in Java Programming Award - If this is a school wide award, it isn’t too great considering you went to an uncompetitive HS.

Extracurricular Activities/Clubs:
Play five instruments (I intend to send in recordings of my music as supplementary material to every college I intend to apply to)

Impressive, but I’m not sure of it’s impact.
Medical Center volunteer (100+hours)

Might be impressive, depending on what you did.
Daily road bicyclist

Lol. Not even worth mentioning.
Protested for my school (was interviewed for City news television)

See above. High schools have protests all the time…
Captain of Jeopardy High School Team (Competed two rounds and was featured on tristate television)

This isn’t too great, but you can probably play this up and it will sound very good.
Soccer player (Not on school team)

If you didn’t even play for your school it isn’t a very good ec.
Macrame` Artist

I don’t know what this is.
Robotics Club

Being a member is mediocre.

This is only a rough analysis of my extracurriculars (I Have many more)

What do you guys think? What are my chances?

TLDR: You went to a mediocre, uncompetitive hs which make most of your awards and distinctions moot. You have not proven yourself yet at the college level. UI-C would be your best chance out of the schools you mentioned. I highly recommend getting some EC’s/awards at the college level and maintaining your GPA. You will have a much better shot of transferring the following year.

UIUC-65%^…Really, I don’t think its that easy…

OP, you need at least get some higher level classes before you will be looked at. Gen. Chem. is not for pre-med students. Pre-Calc is also too easy of a class. If you say you got A in Calc III, you have a better chance.

The real issue is that I am very unhappy at Hunter. I feel that if I stay another year, it may lead to depression.

Is there anything I could do now to improve my chances? I will retake my SAts this upcoming January.

Yeah you’re going to have to wait until junior year to be competitive at any of these schools, so if your situation is really that bad I would just transfer to your state flagship and then transfer again junior year if you must.

How much would retaking SATs help my chances?

disregarding your hs stats, your college stats is way too low. For transfer students, most colleges focus on how they did in college. Say Dartmouth (ivy), the suggested minimum gpa to apply is 3.8…now think about that, everyone who applies to Dartmouth will have 4.0. So the same case applies to Harvard, w/o 4.0, it is HARDLY possible for you to get into any of those schools. If you can’t even ace w/e you take in a cuny school, you’re powerless to transfer to top tier schools.

Suggestion though, look at second & third tier schools.Meaning, #30 and beyond. You have NO CHANCE to 0.1% in getting into Harvard, CAL TECH…etc. Be open-minded, there are so many more schools that are good.

I think you guys are being a bit harsh. No, there’s no real shot here at schools like Harvard but I think there’s a lot of potential given the stellar GPA and significant number of HS accomplishments.

I’d wait another year, but keep your GPA up and get involved in college and you’ll be able to transfer to many of those places you listed.

If you really want to transfer out badly then apply to a top 50 and hope for the best - some schools like transfer students and you’ll have a good shot at those. Once you’re in just stay - they’ll be a lot better than your current position at Hunter. It sounds like you desperately want to get out, so make sure you give yourself choices. Your current list is ultra-competitive which is the reason we’re all so skeptical.
