-1200/1730 on my SAT (680 on math, 520 on reading, and 530 on writing) and I am going to retake it as well as take the ACT in October.

-Im am borderline 3.5 GPA. (note I go to a private school so my GPA is calculated different, but I found out how UCF calculates it (adding weight to Honors and AP and such) and I have around a 3.5)

-Im taking several Honors and Ap courses this year. (I took honors courses all other three years.)

-I have somewhere around 300 to 400 service hours ( i have to check) The main chunk of which came from a 2 week missionary trip in South America I did over the summer. I also accumulatred hem through altar serving for the past 3 years, judging in middle school debate tournaments, and helping in several school activitis.

-I have two strong leadership positions: I am the executive producer for my schools news network (which i have been on for my 3rd year this year.) AND i am the co-founder of my schools enviromental club.

-I have a leter of reccomendation from my Pricipal (who is a Marist Brother) and am getting one from my councilor, my Honors history teacher, and probably my math teacher

-Also I have been in my schools debate team and participated in local and a few national tournaments (I am not a very good debater, but I try my best and I love the experience) for the past 2 years and continuing on my last year this year.

You have average SAT's & class rank for in-state students but good EC's. What do you plan on majoring in? If engineering or business, I don't think you would get in as of now. But if you bring your Math/Critical reading score up to a 1300, you're an automatic admit and have a better shot at any major.

Are you a very strong math student, gpowsang? The freshman engineering math courses weed out a lot of would-be engineers.

I agree that you will need to get your SAT up to a 1300 or so to have a good chance of admission. I am not sure that the automatic admission for an SAT score of 1300 applies to OOS students.

Sophomore year i was taking Honors Geometry and Trig, lets just say I screwed up big on the identities est, so that pretty much screwed e for the year and made my teacher select Honors trig and some precal for me my junior year instead of taking full precal.

I was determined to study engineering and I knew i need to be good at math, so what did I do, I Aced EVERY QUARter, test, quiz, midterm and final for my junior math class (I ended with over a 100 every quarter and was 4th of like 90 students taking that class, now im taking Dual enrollment precalculus honors and have an A.

I am DETERMINED to do well in math if that answers ur questions (I got a 680 math and 520 english on my SAT) and im planning on taking the SAT math Tests in November.

Im retaking the SAT in October and am now prepping

i hear that if ur not in the top 10% of ur class, leadership positions are big?

would mine make mines very competitive?

as i said in my ferst post:

"-I have two strong leadership positions: I am the executive producer for my schools news network (which i have been on for my 3rd year this year.) AND i am the co-founder of my schools enviromental club and am in charge of administering the work"

u have sat grades that were close to mine(700 math, 520 english), i was in top 20% of an in state high school. i applied to the college of engineering, but didnt get into that. the put me in the general studies program. But they offer the same classes to general studies students. Except Engineering 111/112 but they have other classes that u can take in place of those. They are called Comman Body of Knowlege classes, Chem 107, Math 151, Math 152, Engl 104, Phys 208, Phys 218, Eng 111, Eng 112. If u keep a certain gpa (different for each department of engineering) you can tranfer into the college of engineering your sophmore year and you won't really be behing all the engineering students

I got a 26 composite (85th Percentile)
-26 Eng (83rd Percentile)
-31 Math (97th Percentile!!)
-23 Reading (64th Percentile :( )
-25 Science (85th Percentile surprised that this wasnt my lowest....)

and i retook my SAT. BIG PROBLEM HERE. Since TAMU looks at my highest scores from ONE sitting I may be in trouble.

Before i had a 1200 out of 1600 (CR520, M680)

My CR/M score went down a combined 40 points (OUCH) But my writing score went up 80!!
NOOO. So this means that they will be looking at a lower overall CR/M score.

Im currently prepping to take the SAT Math 1 next week Saturday and am using Barron's since i hear it overprepps people.

Im also retaking the ACT in ec as well.

PS: I have 2 GREAT LORs from my honors American Hist teacher and my Debate Coach.

Sign on to the A&M Applicant Information System (AIS) and scroll to the bottom of the page. There are four tabs along the bottom. One is labeled "Documents". Click on that, and it will list what documentation has been received and when, including your LOR's.

Then I would call the Admissions Office ASAP to see if they've received them. The LOR's are optional, but they probably need to be in by the January 15th deadline, too. It's possible the office has received them but hasn't had a chance to post it to your status page yet. I imagine they are extraordinarily busy with all the last minute applications.

^i have been calling them EVERY day for the past week (last week leading up tp today) and they FINALLY answered my call. They say they have no way of checking and that if i want to be safe, i should resend them via express mail.

has anyones LORs showed up on their status paged as at lease "received"?
