What are my chances? Please help me out guys!!

Hey guys! So I know the general consensus on this site is that these types of threads are annoying and I know that you guys aren’t actually admissions officers, but I just wanted to get some other opinions on my chances for getting into my dream school:

UNC-Chapel Hill

So I’ll tell you a little bit about myself and my resume, starting with the fact that I’m currently a junior in high school. Here goes (and thank you in advance for reading):

  • GPA (Weighted): 4.5 - expecting it to go up after this year
  • GPA (Unweighted): 3.85 - expecting it to go up after this year
  • Class Rank: 79/622 - expecting it to go up after this year
  • I live in-state, I know that's a big factor with this particular school
  • SAT: 2180 - taking it again in June
  • ACT: 34
  • AP Exams: Got a 4 on two of them (have taken 3 total so far)
  • SAT II Tests: haven't taken any yet, but taking 3 in October
  • National Honor Society member (junior year, already approved for senior year)
  • Student Mentor (at my school, for freshman)
  • FCCLA member
  • Have my driver's permit (lol, I don't really know if colleges care about this but I'm just putting it out there)
  • NC State Internship: doing an internship at NC State over the summer under a professor who teaches chemical engineering at the university.
  • Competitive Badminton Player: I play competitive badminton (league outside of school) and have won medals at various junior and adult tournaments across the country - been playing all throughout my high school career. I've been ranked as high as #4 in mixed doubles nationally and #5 in singles nationally. I'm one of the top badminton players in the country (won at Pan American Games, Junior International Trials, etc).
  • Recipient of the High School Badminton All-American award.
  • Employment: Assistant coach at my local badminton center.
  • Sponsorships: have received sponsorships from Black Knight, Adidas, Yonex, Bonny, and Wilson because of my badminton skills (been given rackets, clothes, etc).
  • Charity Tournament: I organized a charity badminton tournament over the summer by myself, and we raised around a $1,000 to go to local charities.
  • Volunteer: have performed hundreds of hours of volunteer service for badminton - helping little kids learn how to play, etc. Have also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, SPCA, etc. Just a couple hours away from receiving the "Presidential Service Award (bronze)"
  • Recommendations: I was going to ask my math teacher to write it, she knows me well. I was also going to ask the chemical engineering professor I'm interning under at NC State this summer - he already knows and likes me.
  • College Applications: I'm really good at writing, so I'm not really worried about these.
  • College Tours: I've been on a couple tours of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus already, and it's BEAUTIFUL. I've also played a couple of tournaments there in Fetzer Gym.

So I think that’s all guys, thank you for taking the time to read all this. I’ll edit and add more stuff if I can think of any. But what do you think? Do I have a shot?

I think you do! Score-wise, you are above the average ACT and SAT scores (30 and 1947 respectively). You are also a relatively unique candidate-- I don’t know many competitive badminton players, let alone ones who are nationally ranked. Also, having internships, especially in the field of STEM looks really good to any college.
Good luck!

I like the banminton – Unique, and you’ve done a lot of things related to it. If you get into top colleges, it will be because of banminton. That part of your application stands out from everyone else.
Don’t take the SAT again. I’d cancel that test and put the money towards the subject tests. Your ACT is at the competitve level.

Thanks a lot for the help!!
