in state or out of state?

out of state, not a plus :(

why are you bothering with chances right now? theres no way any could predict, as things could go either bad or good with your grades, admissions, ect...right now you're on a good track, but chill out, keep up the grades/rank, and start worrying about chances during the summer, at earliest

I can tell you with 100% certainty that you will not get in ED.

ouch..(10)

thanks
the reason i am looking now is because i have wanted to go there ever since i was little and i was just wondering if there was a chance. thanks for your replies

I'm sure you are a good kid, but I have to agree, I don't think you have a chance. You are weak on the rigor of courses you have taken so far; you need more APs. Unfortunately, the PSAT doesn't always convert over to the SAT the way you have outlined. My advice: do your best for the remainder of this year. Try to take as many AP courses as you can handle well next year. Prepare for the SAT. If you score great then leave it at that, if not, take it again and strongly consider taking the ACT--don't delay. Get started early in the application process. Start writing essays in mid to late summer. Many schools keep the same essays questions year after year, and some will also post their essay section in mid to late summer so that students can start early if they want to. Essays are REALLY important in the UVA application process. They even have a link in their application that tells one what they are looking for, and what they don't want in essays.

Oh, and one last big point UVA has done away with their Early Decision process. This was the last year for it, so that will not be an option for you anyway. So relax, it is out of your hands now.

thanks
so taking 2 ap history classes, ap calculus, ap spanish, and ap biology isnt going to be enough ap?
im basically taking all of the hardest courses that my school will allow right now

I'm sorry hello123456789; it's a very harsh world out there particularly if you are applying OOS to UVA. Since you are taking the most difficult course load that you are allowed to take right now, you should mention that in your application. UVA has different sections in the application where you can add information like that. I'm glad you brought that up here in CC, because if you are indeed doing all that you can do, then UVA will want to know that.

Also, I saw that you compete in the equestrian world. Have you won awards? Make a good list of awards that you've won, that will reflect an obvious passion of yours, right? PASSION is the buzz word of the application world. They want students with a passion for life, learning, whatever.

Good luck. It's a tough battle but you're still in the running! I cannot emphasize the essays enough. There's a lot of smart kids with good stats; the essays set people apart and UVA really, really reads them.

hello123456789, you should go ahead and apply because you may have a slim shot. It's worth a try. The only reason I said that you wouldn't get in ED is because UVA will not have ED when you apply.

ok thanks
yeah, i just realized there will be no ed
oh well, i guess i can try
hopefully i can get good scores on my SAT's
