That is incredible for a Freshman. Keep it up and you'll have plenty of raffle tickets to throw into the Ivy League selection bin. :)

too early to tell, but keep working hard and u'll do well

I have some inhibitions though
it's about your workload...it's just not demanding enough. And the fact that you only have honors classes this year is not that encouraging, compared to the thousands of other applicants who will have AP or IB courses. But if your school does not provide wit many courses, then it's ok as long as u clarify it. However, since you are gonna take one AP course next year, it does seem as if you did not take advantage of the opportunity. Plz clarify this so that we can evaluate better. And a suggestion, take more AP courses next year if you can.

Your ecs are fine, not stand-out ecs but they are good. However, you can make them stand out through your essays, which is my suggestion. That's all for now, and please clarify the courses thing.

This is a freshman. I hope you are kidding about the workload not being sufficient.

I would also suggest perhaps taking more than one AP next year though... and perhaps not World History. It is just personal preference but I prefer Euro to World history. (World history is more typically a freshmen AP)

Thanks for the advice. By the way, no ap/ab courses are offered freshman year (honestly, I've NEVER heard of a school that offers freshman ap courses- my friend got accepted to Choate, one of the best private schools, if not the best private school in the country and they dont offer ap until junior year- no sophomore AP world history). As for next year, only one AP course is offered- World History. Junior year, I plan on taking AP Biology, AP French, AP US History, AP BC Calculus, AP Lang. I'm working on the ECs; remember I'm a freshman in a school of over 2000; it's hard to be editor of this, president of that, captain of this being a lower classman, yet I'm doing very well. Typically, about 10 seniors from our school are accepted to Ivy League and I think I'm right on par (grade-wise) and above par (extra-curricular wise). Things I forgot to mention: I'm also planning on interning with the local newspaper, volunteer at library and hospital.

*I don't know if this is an indication of my future college acceptances, but this year I applied to three of the best boarding schools in the country and got merit scholarships at two of them. (I didn't choose to attend b/c my school is one of the best public schools in the country; my biology teacher went to Duke, as did my math team sponsor; several teachers attended Yale, etc.)

You really don't need advice to be honest, you are taking the hardest course load offered and are excelling in ECs at a level far greater than most seniors. I seriously doubt you really needed to post this for actual assistance. (Afterall you are a freshman.) So I will provide the obligatory (and subversively requested) ego-boost.

You rock!

yup keep it up. And yes AP's are allowed in certain places, just not alot of them. Keep up the work, and relax bud, your only a 9th grader. its time to freak when your a junior.

Your stats are way better than mine...and I'm a junior lol! Seriously if you keep this up then you will definately get into any college you want. Many people don't think about college untill their 11th-12th grade year, so you definately have the upper hand!

Yeah, I know I'm just a freshman, but I'm one of those people who are OCD about everything (it runs in the family). ANyway, my sister is a junior and she has been touring all these nice colleges, which makes me really look to my future. I just want to make sure that Im doing enough and wont regret not doing more when it's too late and I;m sitting down filling out applications a couple yrs down the road.

One of the things I really enjoy doing is writing, so that is one of the ecs Ive been really focusing on. Am I doing enough, though?

All right, so you've accomplished a lot. But the more important thing is: have you researched the university(ies) that you want to go to? Many just automatically want Ivy League because they excel in school (we've all thought we could get into Harvard at one point or another). But have you looked into their programs, their selectivity, their strengths, their weaknesses, their cost, etc.? These are more important. Don't let "Ivy League" cloud your vision.

Good advice.

"Many people don't think about college untill their 11th-12th grade year, so you definately have the upper hand!"

-That's definitely true. At my school however (cut-throat, competitive) people are considering college in 7th grade and prepping for the sat in 5th!

Indeed, those are pretty good stats. But keep your mind open to other universities as well. You are a freshman and have plenty of time to decide on the Ivy Leagues. In the meantime, I would recommend you keep an open mind to other universities as well, since you might find something you like.

Good luck!

What good (but not Ivy) colleges give scholarships to entice people like me to their schools?

My sister and I just toured GA Tech- a good school w/ lots of scholarship options

(But ivy league is still my dream)
