Hi, I am really sorry to post another similar thread to my last one, but I want to ask what do you guys think my chances are to get into Michigan State.
High School: West Bloomfield High School
Location: West Bloomfield, Michigan.
GPA on Transcript: 3.78 W (school only reports weighted). 3.73 UW (I think?)
2 AP’s and 11 honors
By graduation- 6 AP’s, 11 honors
My Grandpa is an alumni, but neither of my parents went to college.
Intended Major: Lyman Briggs (Microbiology or Molecular Genetics.)
-Had an ongoing battle with Hyperthyroidism (Graves disease) due to an awful Endocrinologist during my freshman and sophomore years.
-My parents are both alcoholics and my dad uses drugs. I’ll leave it to you guys to imagine some of the horrors I’ve gone through because of this.
-Was always a decent student, but by 8th grade I realized that education would be my way out of this cycle.
-Had positive influence from a few teachers during HS.
-Parents are separated. I live with my mom.
-I would really love some aid. After taxes, my mom makes around $50,000.
Family circumstances prevented me from doing any EC’s in high school.
SAT- 1060 (540 M + 520 CR/W)
Yeah, I know this is a really bad score. According to CB, this score was already sent
I am going to take the ACT in September.
I really want to apply in August so I can get into LB. That is why I choose to bite the bullet with the SAT score. Would they still accept me with a score this low?
Can anyone suggest some other schools? I already applied to Grand Valley, Central, and Ferris State. Staying in Michigan is not a must, but I want to save some money.
