What are my chances to BS/MD Program?

Right now I dont have any volunteering medical experience. Even if I begin to volunteer next semester 3 hours every week, and become involved in research in the summer, can I still be a strong candidate especially to Brown’s PLME, Baylors Medical Fast Track, Northwestern’s HPME, UH/UTMB program…

Sounds like you are a junior? Definitely worth a shot

Your best chance of medical school is in your home state. That’s the best place to start. Most importantly, medical school is atrociously expensive, so you need to keep the student debt to a minimum. Having piles of debt, especially from undergraduate, can severely limit your options. Affordability should be your number 1 goal above anything else.

Sounds good. Yes I’m a junior, and As for me that would be Baylor’s Medical fast track, Rice/Baylor Program, and UH/UTMB BS/MD. The Baylor one is especially competitive in that it only accepts 6 students to its program. The main worry for me is the 3 Bs from advanced math courses 10th/11th grade and lack of volunteering. But I’ll take your advice.

BS/MD is extremely competitive. Whether BS/MD or regular MD, planning for a specific school is never a good approach.

But being in Texas you have the trump card compared to other states and hence your chances for regular MD is better. For BS/MD, need to apply widely if you are keen about BS/MD since Tx has few programs only as you have mentioned.

Look the 2 threads created for BS/MD each year, one for discussion and second for the results thread. Especially the results thread will give an idea of the students who got admitted.

It’s nothing to stress over. So much maturation happens in college, that most students will change their mind about their major 3 times over.Part of college is finding undiscovered passions. You don’t want to lock yourself into a school or program based on a dream coming out of high school. That’s the fastest way into 4 years of misery.

Hi my daughter has a 34 ACT and 3.97 UW. What are her chances?
