What are my chances to get accepted in Phillips Academy Andover

I am from the middle east but I have the american nationality.

I applied to Phillips Academy Andover, for next year (Sept 2011)
I want to know what my chances are.

I am now a French Lycee.
Grades: for the french system, REALLY GOOD, unfortunately the american system might find it bad. Grading: 0>20 /20
13>20/20 = A
9>13/20 = B
7>9/20 = C
5>7/20 = D
0>5/20 = F
If you ask any french student about grades. My grades are all A's and B's. Which is really good for a 10th grader.
I am also in the best class in school, students are grouped by ability, not in each subject but in all of the subjects, and there are only two groups, one of them has only 20 strongest students in school (including me) and the rest of the class (240 students maybe)

I play tennis, do community work, had a job once, very good recommendations, and going to NAIL that interview I have next week.

What do you think? I REALLY WANT TO GET IN, I am obsessed about it, have Phillips academy andover on every wallpaper. And I have been waiting for this opportunity for two years!!! Also, I have many ppl who are going to (personal) recommend me.

Try the Prep School Forum.

FarisM - I am very familiar with PA. During the interview they are looking for mature, self motivated students that are bringin something to the school community other than good grades and test scores. They want to make sure that it is the kid that wants to go to the school and not just the parents. Think of it in terms of “What interests/expertise do I have that is different than the other students?” For example, one year they touted that they had a freshman from London that could weave Navajo rugs and then another kid that had his own cooking videos on You Tube and wanted to land a show ont he food network…GOOD LUCK! Feel free to PM me with other questions.

Momofboston:
THANK YOU SO MUCH
it helped a lot

I am serious, I was really hoping I get this!

But I have a question, I am being interviewed by a PA graduate from 1960… What can I say to impress him, and what can I, a student, “contribute” to the school’s sense of community?

gadad is right. Head on down to the Prep School Admissions forum and you will find answers to this question and more. If you are having trouble finding it, you can go to the index page and then look under Pre-College.
