What are my chances to get into Carnegie Mellon?

I am an international student, my weighted GPA is 3.96 and unweighted is 3.9. I am a bad standardized test taker and got a 1220 on the SAT and since CMU requires subject tests and I did awful on my subject tests. 560 for MAth 2 and 590 for chem (partly because I didn’t know we get penalized for putting wrong answers). I don’t know if this stuff will help but I’m from a multicultural background, go to an international school, I can speak 5 different languages. I have been part of community service, basketball and MUN. I have taken AP Biology in 10th grade, and got a 4 on the exam. Took AP Chemistry and AP Seminar in my junior year and did decent in them, and this year I’m taking AP Physics, AP Com. Gov and politics and AP Calculus. I am part of an auditioned chamber choir as well. I want to apply undecided in the sciences college cause I wanna go to medical school later. What are my chances of getting into CMU? I know my SAT is awful, but is there even a point in applying? Thank you.

Also I got a 24 on ACT, not that good either.

I’ll let someone else answer the other parts, but “I am a bad standardized test taker” is not an excuse for admissions officers. They’ve heard it too many times, and it simply doesn’t have any merit. Your SATs are way too low for CMU — it’s harsh, but it’s the truth. You are also international, so your chances are extremely low for CMU. I recommend looking into other schools.

Thank you for the honest reply, on my universities list Carnegie Mellon is one of my reaches. Do you think it’s worth even applying there as a reach for me?

I would say no — you are better off spending more time on the essays for low reach/high match schools than CMU. Good luck in the process!

I would say that you should still apply and see what happens

i mean I have good test scores but a poor gpa (3.65 uw), im still applying because i want to see what happens
