Hey, so this is where i’m at. I’m currently going to a community college (in-state) in my town because i wanted to save up some money. Anyway, i’m a nutrition (or nutritional science) major and my transferable GPA right now is about 3.2…but i’m applying for Fall 2019, and I’ve calculated my transferable GPA to be about a 3.7-3.75 after winter , spring, and summer semesters if i get all A’s and B’s.
My top choices:
1-UCSB (my friend got in with a 3.48 as an anthro major)
2-CSU SLO
3-CSU LB (I’m not concerned because they actually have a program for nutrition in which all you need is a 2.0 minimum and you are guaranteed acceptance).
UC Transfer GPA admit range which could help you gauge your chances.

SLO will be a tough admit. You might want to add a few more schools to your list so you have more options.
Thanks for the reply Gumbymom! I am sure to get into CSU LB because their nutrition program states that if you get a certain certificate from the college you’re transferring out of (which i’m working on getting now), all you need is a 2.0 or above and you’ll be guaranteed to get into their nutrition program (and obviously my gpa is way above that).
What do you think my chances are at getting into ucsb in fall 2019 if my gpa is 3.67 by summer 2019?
UCSB does not have a nutrition major and if you are applying for Fall 2019, only your grades from Fall 2018 will be considered in the TAU. They do not consider Spring grades for admission decisions and you need to complete all requirements by Spring 2019. Summer grades and courses will not be considered for admission purposes.
I’m not doing TAG and also some of my major requirements will be completed during my winter 2019, spring 2019, and summer 2019, so wouldn’t they have to look at those classes since they are major requirements?
You need to have all major requirements completed by Spring 2019, with or without TAG.
Right. So wouldn’t they look at my grades on those major required classes (during fall, spring, and summer 2019?)
If you are applying for Fall 2019, then they will see all your grades up to the end of Fall 2018. Spring grades will not be available in time for your admission decision and you need to complete all requirements by Spring 2019 to transfer. Summer 2019 courses will not be considered.
But isn’t there also a supplemental application? One that tracks your progress in your classes? Almost everyone i’v spoken to has said you need to submit a supplemental application (months after your regular one) that tracks your progress in those major specific classes.
The supplemental will include grades up to the end of Fall 2018. Decisions are made in the Spring so your Spring grades will not be available at the time of your admission decision and any required courses will need to be completed by Spring 2019 not by Summer 2019.
Basically if you want to attend UCSB and include your grades from this Fall + spring and summer you will have to apply for Fall 2020.
