What are my chances to these Liberal Arts Colleges (and others)?

Hello!

Compared to some incredibly intense people in College Confidential, I haven't got anything that's ultra-extraordinary, but I do have a clear sight for my future. Although I have grown up in South Korea--where Designer-Name schools is the past, current, and future obsession--I don't see things quite the same way. Lol.

It's too late to do anything about my stats, save standardized testing, and I have my own ideas about my chances for each of these schools, so please give me your comments so I can confirm/revise my expectations.

Note: Essays should be great if I manage my time wisely, and I love my teachers and my high school counselor.

Lol. Thanks. I know that most of the chancing are piecework guesses, but for some reason, it’s incredibly enjoyable :D

Good shot at all except the extreme wild card, Yale, with a strong application. You’re competitive for Yale of course, but who knows where the darts will hit.

YOu have excellent Recs, and sinc eyour GPA, EC’s, SAT’s are so good, top colleges are definitely a prospect.

Thank you, verily, for your comment.

However, I have to point out that Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore have some of the nation’s highest Ph.D productivity rate (beyond Harvard and Yale undergrad), not to mention they are some of the best liberal art schools.

Note: If I was being a jerk to you. I am hugely sorry! I checked over my replies and I sounded incredibly selfish. :(

this is my chance back. I’m sure you’ll get into almost all of these colleges. You just need to emphasize the best from your plethora of extra-curriculars and awards.

In parenthesis I’ve included the US News selectivity rank for reference. Note LACS (Bryn Mawr, Harvey Mudd, Haverford, Pomona, Swarthmore, Wellesley) and universities (Caltech, Chicago, Dartmouth, Rice, Yale) were on separate lists.

@ Milktea

Thank you for your compliments, but the people who people I know got into HYPSM, Swarthmore, and Dartmouth had incredible ECs, such as founding an International organization or being on the International Committee, and they all had perfect or near-perfect numbers. Gah.

I think you have a good chance. However, numbers with ECs become complicated. Colleges like quality—do show them that.
With your stats, apply higher as well. Yale isn’t just kicks for you, you would make an excellent candidate.

@ Emma Watson

I know my ECs are a bit complicated, but I love them all :'(. I will probably have to resign from my county youth health board, but I am going to try not to.

I don’t know about “applying higher,” because I really do love LACs (hence the title of the thread)

Bryn Mawr - No clue
Cal-Tech - Reach
Dartmouth - Reach
Harvey Mudd - Match
Haverford - Low Match
Pomona - No clue
Rice - Safety
University of Chicago - Depends on the essay; Low match if well-written
Swarthmore - Match
Wellesley - Low Match
Yale - I’m guessing the admissions process is basically a crapshoot.

Wow. I don’t know why you say that compared to other CC kids you aren’t special because, trust me, you look ridiculously AMAZING on paper. You never know with Yale, but I’d say you have one of the best chances I’ve ever seen. Of course some of the other schools you have are very competitive, but I would not be surprised in the least if you got into every school on your list including Yale. I think at any school you want to apply to you will have amazing chances. I am so so jealous! Ha!

I say you’re in most of those except for maybe Cal-tech and Yale, but you’re just as competitive as anyone else.

Why’d you say I should aim higher than Cornell?
Is UPenn ED less restrictive and better? Would I have a shot?

wow. your stats are awesome. you’ll get into a bunch of those colleges.
