will apply to transfer for fall 2017

status: F1 holder (international)

Activities:

how’s my chance to those universities?

and I’m kinda curious about the influence of my winter and spring quarter GPA, are they also included in the overall GPA? i mean i got a not so satisfying GPA earlier and then i got a perfect GPA for my upcoming winter and spring quarter, how will it works? because decisions out in may and june, it means logically, the only possibility is that my winter GPA will be counted towards my overall GPA but not my spring 2017 GPA right?

Thanks all!

Plus, i had been a class president for 9 years since 3rd grade in my elementary school to 12th Grade in my HS

UCB does not consider test scores or any HS related activities for transfer admission. It is based on your essay statements and GPA along with having 60 semester/90 quarter units, all required GE’s and major related courses finished by Spring 2017. You can update your Fall/Winter classes/grades in January.

For 2015, the GPA range for accepted applicants in Statistics was 3.67-3.93 so you are within range.

You look like you have a decent chance at any acceptance. Good Luck.

How to count the overall GPA? Is it from fall 2015 to spring 2017 or from fall 2015 to fall 2016

My community college is not in California

Your GPA for transfer is the based on the UC Transferable courses. Since you are OOS, you need to see which courses articulate to the UC courses. I would see if you could get your transcripts evaluated by one of the UC’s to make sure you meet all the requirements.

Can I use this website to check whether my course transferred to the uc or not?

So the overall GPA is not counted purely based on transcripts?

For the UC’s, it is the UC transferable GPA that is important but you still list all courses and grades. You can use assist.org to try and help you figure out which courses are UC transferable but if you can get your transcript evaluated by a UC, you would be better off knowing if you are eligible.

I was following the uc requirements from assist.com based on de Anza requirements. For example, if uc Berkeley ask de Anza to get linear algebra, I also take linear algebra. So it’s like only the major gpa that matter?

I got a 2.6 in my linear algebra class and going to retake it to get a 4.0, what do you think? All other math classes I got 4.0 except Calc 3. Calc 4 and diff equation I got 4.0, Stat also 4.0. This summer was kinda absurd for me

Your GE courses, major pre-req’s and major courses will be all considered in your UC transfer GPA. I do not think there should be an issue to retake the Linear Algebra class to boost your GPA.

GE you mean my IGETC kind of thing in my cc?

Yes, the IGETC courses.

Where to make sure that courses from my cc are transferable to uc?

If you are using assist.org, that is the best you can do without having your transcript evaluated by a UC. UC’s give priority to in-state CCC students, that is why it can be difficult to articulate OOS classes. All you can do is read the De Anza’s course descriptions and match them as best as you can to your own schools courses.

Is there a high chance that a course with same name will be transferred?

Course content is more important than name. Check De Anza’s course descriptions and if possible syllabus to determine of the same course material is covered. I would assume Linear Algebra would have similar content regardless of school but some of the IGETC courses may be an issue.

What about colleges other than uc, do I stand a good chance to get there?

Not familiar with the rest of the schools on your list. Sorry.

Is it really low chance to get into uc Berkeley statistics? I heard from my friend that sometimes people with 4.0 GPA got rejected even though they got decent activities
