What are my chances with a 3.88 GPA, 32 ACT, 1300/1980 SAT?

My cumulative weighted GPA is a 3.88. I am well aware of how low it is in comparison to the UF freshman profile, however, I was wondering if my test scores would help me out.
My ACT individual scores on my best test are:
33 English
33 math
33 reading
30 science
32 composite
My super scored SAT is:
Critical reading: 640
Math: 660
Writing: 680 CR+M/Composite
1300/1980
I have had a handful of extra curriculars like varsity golf and track and field, and have volunteered at the Mayo Clinic each summer since my Freshman year. I have earned a little over 200 service hours and have participated in 3 service clubs at my school. I will graduate with 6 APs and I have taken many honors courses as well. I am a National Honor Society member and Spanish Honor Society member at my school. My senior schedule has 3 APs, 2 Honors, and 2 standard (one of these standard classes is religion, which is required at my private school) A weakness of mine other than my GPA and my class rank when I applied, (74/320), is lack of leadership positions, except for being a team leader for a children’s summer camp for two weeks. I worked for a few weeks on my application essay and got an admissions rep from another school to read it and help me tweak it to be less cliche, and more interesting to the readers. Once again, I am highly aware of my GPA being below UF standards, and my extra curriculars are probably just average, but I am just wondering if my test scores, particularly my ACT score, can help me get accepted to or at least deferred from the Summer Term at UF.

Well, even if your EC’s don’t have much leadership, your ACT score is actually at the top of their freshman profile (actually i think it’s even higher than that!!!). That should definitely help your application stand out. Now you say cumulative weighted, however make sure to recalculate your GPA using their GPA calculation system. Here’s how it works:

Regular Classes:
A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1
F=0

Honors/Pre-IB/Pre-AICE Classes (add .5 points):
A=4.5
B=3.5
C=2.5
D=1.5
F=0.5

IB/AP/AICE/Dual Enrollment Classes (add 1 point):
A=5
B=4
C=3
D=2
F=1

So do that for all of your academic courses (world language, math, social studies, science, english) and add that up and divide by the number of courses (this includes if you took algebra 1 or geometry and/or earth/space science in middle school!). If that ends up being between 4.1-4.5 Recalculated, that combined with your ACT score means you have a good chance :slight_smile: (just a high schooler who has researched this stuff, but i’m no professional lol) (also grades and class rigor are more important than class rank.) best of luck to you!!!

For anyone who sees this and was wondering, I was accepted! :slight_smile: and my GPA calculated the UF way was only a 3.73 if I can remember correctly. (My guidance counselor calculated it for me in the beginning of my senior year.)

That’s awesome! Congrats!!! :slight_smile:

Congratulations!!! :blush:
