I am currently at a California Community College.
I have a 3.4 GPA (community college gpa)
honors college/high school courses
a few extra curriculars
and work part-time.
SAT: 460 / 420
ACT: 21

I want to apply to:
UNC- Chapel Hill
Syracuse
Emory University
USC
Howard
Spelman

What are my chances, especially as an out of state student?
Any suggestions for other schools I should consider?

Are you a sophomore or junior transfer? Your GPA is on the low end for those schools, but it is not horrible. However,I’m not really sure about Spelman and Howard. I think that you should really raise your SAT or ACT for USC, Emory, UNC, Syracuse, as they are are pretty competitive.

There’s no sense in why you can’t retake them. And its actually good that you’re a sophomore! This is because colleges will not place so much weight on your hs stats! If you want a better shot at those top schools, I think it would be best to try to retake your SAT or ACT. If you get your scores up a bit, you may have a better shot. But who knows, apply, and you could get in! Good luck!
