Thank you and hope my post is not too atrociously formatted

Glad you’re interested in W&M.

It sounds like you’re off to a great start especially with your course selection. It’s hard to tell what a student’s grades are from a GPA (because schools use so many different scales and means of weighting) but if you have mostly As (which is our guess based on your GPA) then that’s great. You’re also already pursuing various leadership positions which is also fantastic.

Any reason you’re not in Spanish this year? It appears that not taking Spanish this year will prohibit you from reaching Spanish 4 (a class we like to see). It’s not a requirement and overall your schedule is very strong but you may want to explain (or have your guidance counselor explain) why you skipped a year of Spanish.

Are you in-state or out-of-state. As a public university, we have to be more selective for out-of-state. Your ACT score is in the middle 50% range for in-state but not for out-of-state. If your recent score doesn’t improve, you may want to consider trying the SAT just to give yourself the opportunity to put your best foot forward.

You can also consider visiting campus this summer for an optional interview.

For more on any applicant’s chances, check out our Admit It! Blog ([W&M Blogs Chance Me](http://blogs.wm.edu/2010/12/14/chance-me/))

I have Achieved A’s in all classes, but Geometry and Biology which i received a B.

Should I have more leadership positions feel that with 3-4 positions can put enough time into each club so that the club is successful and I am actually contributing, with more leadership positions feel i will be too spread out between clubs.

The reason i did not take Spanish 3 this year is because I am really bad at foreign language, and my former guidance counselor said skip it. I regret the decision greatly this year, and feel my schedule is really lacking due to not taking class. I am considering taking class over summer, and then going into Spanish 4 senior year. My question is how do admission officers view online classes in respect to classes offered at school?

I am out of state, and will be taking next SAT :)

Thank you for the quick replay

Sounds like you have great grades.

3-4 leadership positions is usually more than average (depending on the size of your graduating class). We certainly don’t encourage any student to over-extend themselves or be involved solely for the purpose of getting into college.

If you don’t complete the fourth level of a single foreign language in high school, you will be required to take foreign language at W&M. If you think you can do well in Spanish 4 we’d encourage you to take a summer class that would allow you to enroll in Spanish 4 next year. Just keep in mind that online classes can be difficult (and trying to learn foreign language online maybe even more so). Again, don’t pursue anything at a detriment to yourself but if you believe there is a way to take Spanish 4 and do well in it, go for it.
