The engineering is one of the harder schools to get into i believe. You shuld raise your SAT slightly. I would say you are 75% IN right now. What is your math score on the ACT and SAT? I think the Band helps you out

Out of state acceptance is very competitive. Your SAT scores are good, but I would definitely take it once more. For the engineering school, aim for at least an 1800/2400.

What are your other EC’s? Are any of them leadership (ie president, vice president, founder of any clubs, captain of sports team, etc)? Often it is the quality of your involvement, not just the quantity.

Your grades seem good but definitely aim for all A’s this year. Depending on when you apply or if you are waitlisted, nc state WILL look at your senior grades and they matter… a lot!

Make sure you take challenging courses your senior year too.

If nc state is really where you want to go, it may benefit you to apply to an easier college (CHASS for example) than a very competitive one (engineering). You can always switch majors after 1st semester.

I’ll be a freshman at state next month. Good luck!!
