Well it's about to be my senior year and I have decided to apply to Texas A&M, Baylor, and Texas Tech.

Class rank: 65/397

GPA (unweighted): 3.8

SAT Score: CR: 550 M: 620

I have taken all AP classes and have a good amount of EC's.

I plan on majoring in Engineering or going into Pre-Med. I have just started to apply and was hoping to get a second opinion on my stats. If you have applied to either of these school please tell me about your experience. Thank you in advance.

Post your EC’s (or at least a vague description of them and the number of hours) and your writing score, both effect your odds/the stats you posted are enough to chance you.

Well my writing was not that good however every school I talked to didn’t care about writing which was a 500. As for EC’s debate team, key club, interact club (president), and NHS. As for hours I have 50+ hours not including the time I put into debate and the four way speech contest.

Thank you! The funny thing is that the admission counselor at Baylor is going to have a meeting with me to talk about scholarships. However Baylor is actually my third pick the tuition is just too crazy.

The writing section is a part of your sat score, and no college is going to omit a 1/3 chunk of your total score. In fact, many colleges actually read the essays you wrote in the writing section.

They told me that they don’t even read the essays so I just winged the writing. Anyways I am taking the sat again that was my first time and I believe I can score even higher

Just tell us your writing score, or give us any of the other information we’ve requested. No one’s going to help you with such limited stats, especially if you refuse to provide anything more.

Oh my apologies! I didn’t see that post. What were your AP scores? The speech commitment is good, but the SAT is pretty low, especially for pre med/engineering

All 4’s and 1 5 on APUSH and like I said this was my first SAT. I plan on retaking this Oct. Premed is out of my list due to the accumulating debt that racks up over time so engineering is going to be my major. I was wondering should I mention that I am the youth teacher at my church?
