I was wondering what my chances of getting into james madison were.
I have a GPA of 3.3. and have some time to improve my GPA.
I take a more difficult course of classes but no accelerated or AP.
Act of 24
Im also considering applying early decision to show they are the school im only interested in.
Im just afraid my GPA is too low for james madison. Thanks for the help! Let me know your guys thoughts
Depends on the type of classes you have taken. JMU looks more at the quality of the classes in relation to GPA. They do like to see Honors and/or AP if available at your school however.
First off, what your chances WERE? With that grammar, probably not too high…
Lol, jk.
JMU does not have ED, nor do they care about demonstrated interested (it’s a state school). Im assuming you’re a junior, so you need to get that GPA up in order to increase your chances.
Best of luck!
@baseball123123 JMU does not have ED, but does have EA (Early Action) which is not binding. Keep in mind EA is much more competitive than RD. I agree with @nj1818, your GPA appears on the lower side compared to the average admitted student, so work hard to get it higher to increase your chances. JMU considers course rigor too. Which means if you have Honors and AP classes available, but did not take them, this might work against you during their review in conjunction with the GPA. Lastly, I would also suggest retaking the ACT or even consider the SAT. Your current ACT is lower than the mid-average of 26-28. You still have time, and it is really hard to predict what admissions will decide so my opinion is just that…an uneducated guess. Best of luck.
