Academics:
Class Rank: 1
GPA Weighted: 4.65
GPA Unweight: 4.00
Took a total of 4 AP classes. All that were offered at my school. (5) On Spanish. (4) Human geography. (5) World History. (?-don’t know yet) –Microeconomics. My school also offers a multitude of dual credit classes(don’t know if they are as good as AP)- I have taken 20 dual credit classes and will be taking four more first semester of senior year.
SAT: I feel my sat is not doing too good. (1320/1600) that’s about an 1850/2400.
I feel I did much better on my second try- don’t have scores yet. I Plan to take the ACT on September and my subject sat in October. I plan to take Bio, MathI and Math II (should I do that?) then in December take US history and World History.

What is your intended major?

Your GPA looks competitive, but until you retake your SAT and have your SAT 2 scores, it difficult to gauge your chances. You have very good EC’s. For SAT 2 subject tests, take only Math II not Math I. I would also only take one of the history exams. UCB only recommends SAT 2 subject tests and 2-3 tests are sufficient.

Come back and post your SAT/ACT scores along with intended major.

I suggest focusing on either SAT or ACT. Having both is redundant. I also recommend not taking Math I because UC does not accept Math I scores. Math II scores will be very helpful though.
You have a fair shot, I’d say.

Thanks for the feedback. My intended major is Biology or Bioengineering with hopes of getting into medical school afterwards. I get my SAT scores in about a month. Does ucb have any preference between SAT and ACT or will they take either of the two equally ?

UCB has no preference but take the recommended SAT 2 subject tests.

College of Chemistry and College of Engineering: Math Level 2 and a science test (Biology E/M, Chemistry, or Physics) closely related to the applicant’s intended major.

Also consider financial issues at UCB if you are OOS. California does not provide funding for OOS students, so paying full fees for undergrad ($55k per year) and then medical school will be very pricey.

The difference in difficulty of getting in between bioengineering and biology is very significant. Bioengineering is one of the most selective majors in the COE. A friend I know who received UCLA regents with a 34 on his ACT was flat out rejected for bioengineering. If you go in for biology, your chances will be significantly improved.
