I'm a high school junior that lives in VA and I was wondering if I have a chance at getting in. I'll have a 3.6 cumulative GPA by the end of this year, and hopefully a 3.7 when I graduate.
I hadn't taken any AP or honors classes in 9th grade cuz they didnt have it at my old high school and I didnt take any in 10th. I took AP US history this year and Honors English, and next yr I'll be taking about 4 AP & honors classes together.
I took the SAT 1 time so far and got a 510 in Math, 570 Critical Reading, and 610 on the new Writing section (multiple choice 61 essay 8). Total 1690
I took it again in May but I haven't got my scores yet. I'll take it the third time in the fall of my senior year. I might take a SAT subject test next year too, in English or something.
Are clubs really that important? Are there ways for schools to verify that you were in those clubs? (I was in only a few)

So tell me what YOU got on ur SAT, ur final GPA, and ANY OTHER THINGS that I should do that would help me get in, thanx!

BTW, do you kno what and if they give scholarships based on? Because a friend of mine got a full, I think for the first year...but I'm not sure, I have to ask him.

Umm well mainly cuz you're out of state I recommend you pull your SAT Math and Verbal up to at least a 1200. Your GPA and courseload should be okay.

To be honest with you, I don't think clubs matter at all. I mean they might help you out with scholarships but I don't think they help determine whether or not they admit you. Why do I think this? Cuz I wasn't in THAT many clubs in high school.. 4 years of 1 sport, 3 years of peer leadership, 2 years of a "scholars group", 1 homecoming committee, and that was it. Oh and 1 year of NHS. And 2 years with a job... a friend of mine has had a much harder courseload than me, has played 2 sports for all four years, was involved in SGA all 4 years and was vice president of our class 2 years, was in NHS for 2 years and an officer this year, homecoming committees, steady job, the works. And she only got in Spring Semester. (She did have a lower SAT score than me though, but a very high GPA). Her family complained and the school finally admitted it was mainly a matter of race.. which confuses me cuz I'm white too, lol.

So the moral of my story is, get a high SAT score and maintain a high GPA. My SAT was 1270 so around there would probably be good. And my unweighted GPA is 3.64, weighted 3.86... soo I hope I helped!

yea, your SATs are kinda rough... If you raise em up a bit you should be fine.
