What Are My Chances?

I go to an extremely competitive school and have taken all AP classes. My SAT Score is a 1520, ACT is 33… but my grades have suffered a bit (W GPA: 4.5, UW GPA: 3.3, Class rank: 16%).

I am more passionate about my extracurriculars, and they help me stand out:

  • Research for the past 4 years on creating an oral insulin pill (patent-pending), INTEL ISEF Finalist and Indian Presidential Award Winner
  • Started a nonprofit that connects children from US to children in orphanages in India through pen-pal system
  • DECA ICDC Top 10 Finalist
  • Developed App for financial literacy
  • Changed and improved my school district’s curriculum
  • Started fusion classes for dance, general ec’s like volunteering

My essays have gotten pretty positive reviews and I really like them; and when I interviewed the lady was really impressed with me. She said CMC “would be stupid not to accept me”, especially because of my research and non-profit work.

But what are my chances? Do my grades/class rank really knock me down? Or is it something I can make up with my test scores and ECs?

Please let me know!

Grades aren’t perfect, of course. Presumably you’re an international student from India? I think that makes it harder, unfortunately.

You seem like a good applicant with a reasonable chance of getting in. Best of luck.

No, I actually go to school in Texas. I just have won international awards and my parents are from india.

Did you apply ED or RD? Are you a citizen/PR or are you applying as an international student?
Your test scores and ECs seem amazing!

@slaythedogma I applied RD, I was scared to apply ed because of committing anywhere (for financial reasons lol). I’m from a competitive highschool in texas, not international. Thank you! I’m just worried about my grades…

your stuff seems awesome too! good luck to you:)

I think very good. But because CMC is so selective, there will be applicants with your stats who get rejected. But you should be confident that your application is being strongly considered. That’s all you can ask.
