Any input or suggestions on ways for me to make myself more appealing to Midd, other than raising my SAT scores, will be graciously accepted. :)

If any moderators come across this, I think I might have perhaps posted this in the wrong place. It should have been in the What Are My Chances? forum. Heh.

Hey! I'm floating on the same boat as you....i'm a sophomore currently actually, so you probably won't really take my advice to heart. But just to let you know, Who's Who Awards, and the National Honor Roll are scams...yeah, I was kind of upset too when I found out. Pretty dissapointing. But it seems like you're a very conciencious student! Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, yepunsarang.

Who's Who & National Honor Roll: Scams? How so?

you sound okay, but your ecs are pretty weak. you are a very typical applicant. being from Georgia will help, but you need something to make you stand out, something outside of academic achievements.

Any suggestions?

Have you played a sport, been in a play? It's seems most of your ECs and awards are directly associated with school stuff. Middlebury is really competitive to get into, you really will need even more than a few sports and plays to get in. Think about some sort of huge volunteer event, or maybe participating this summer in an language school abroad... a leadership conference. Who knows, you very well could be accepted with only strong academic stuff, but other things would help seal the deal (but still not a guarantee).

Hi again! Um, I looked through a thread in CC, and they had official links to documents that prove that Who's Who and the other award is a scam. May be you'll be able to find it...I don't know. However, I wish you the best of luck!! If you get it, pretend i'm there to pat your back. College admissions is just so depressing.

To aloutak: I have very little free time to devote to sporting endeavors, because I've large commitments to marching and concert band during all times of the year. Plus, I am more of a pure academic than an athlete. My family also does not have enough money to send me to "a language school abroad" or "a leadership conference", so I do what I can, with the little free time that I have. It's most unfortunate, but I hope that I can, in some way, show on my applications how much time I've devoted to band.

yepunsarang: if you happen to have the link, I would love to see it. :)

Who's Who Among American H.S. Students (3 years)
National Honor Roll

remove these asap

I tried searching for Who's Who Among American HS Students and nothing came up. Can someone paraphrase why it's a scam?

yeah remove those..they are empty awards for people who have money to pay for something shiny...

i dont mean to bust ur chops but ur application looks VERY average...
i would say u need to emphasize something more
