What Are My Chances?

I would like to know what my chances are for the following colleges: Ivy’s (Penn, Princeton mainly), Wake Forest, Carnegie Melon, UNC, Davidson. I know this is subjective, but would still like input. Thank you!

Major: Undecided
Gender: Female
Race: African American
Cumulative Unweighted GPA: 3.815
— All A freshman year, and now have half and half A’s and B’s
SAT: 1270 (only taken once)

First gen.—neither of my parents went to college.
Taking all honors classes and AP:
AP Stat (4), AP Lang (4), AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, AP Physics 2.

Other:
-In minority student union for 4 years. Have highest leadership position junior and senior year

  • In school service club and volunteer a lot
  • Peer tutor
  • Student teacher for students with special learning requirements
  • In AV club (2 years)
  • Run Indoor/Outdoor Track
  • Have a job
  • Created, organized, and lead a program that focused on the civil rights movement
  • Attended diversity conference

Award:

  • University leadership award

Are you an NC resident? That’s a big factor for UNC.

Will you take the SAT again? Also, for the Ivies you may be required to submit SAT Subject tests so don’t forget to take those.

Congrats on all your hard work and success in high school. You’ve got a great profile. I think getting your SAT above closer to 1350/1400 would put you in event better spot so def. practice and take again. Since you’ve only taken once, I bet with some practice you can get there.

Wake Forest would be a good choice since it’s test optional. Also consider Chicago as well.

OP might want to consider the ACT. With some test prep, it should be possible to raise that SAT score.

Getting a 4 on AP Lang indicates an ability to write well as less than 30% of students who took the test last year got a 4+ score with the median being 2.83.

Affirmative action will boost your chances as long as your essays are good.
