Hi. I'm new to this group, but I've enjoyed reading around for the past couple weeks before I joined. I'm a high school sophomore who's looking into some colleges for myself. It's quite scary how those 2.5 years have already flown by. Yikes! Better get looking.

Well I'm interesting in perhaps going to Denison, Cornell (My fav. I love the campus.), McGill, Dartmouth, Case Western, or UVA. My uncle went to Oberlin, but no family history of Ivy League. My parents both have their masters. My dad has his major in psychology and physiology and he has a MBA. He went to Michigan State, U of Michigan, and Cleveland State. My mom has her major in accounting and her degreen in Parks Administration. She went to Bowling Green and Michigan State.

I'm looking into majoring in either biology or psychology. And hopefully whichever one I don't major in, I can minor in. I'd love to be accepted into med school afterwards and become a doctor. Anyhoo, here's my stuff.

I have a weighted GPA of 3.633/4. Freshman year was 3.53 and this year, so far, is 3.736.

My schedule last year was all honors (no APs offered for freshmen) and this year is all honors with AP US History. I'm taking the AP Biology test though (we offer the course, but I didn't take it) and the SAT II for biology in June. Next year I'll be taking all honors along with AP Pscyhology and AP US Govt. and hopefully I'll take the AP Chemistry test (we don't offer AP chem, only honors, which I'm taking). And senior year I'll take AP Physics (I don't know which one we offer), AP English (Lit), and French V (AP).

I took the PLAN test last fall and got a composite score of 23 with a recommend ACT composite score of 24-28. I'll be taking the ACT or SAT next fall. I'm not sure which yet, but perhaps both.

I'm in the school band and orchestra. However I am quitting orchestra after seven years due to scheduling conflicts. I made the top band the first year it was available to me.

In my spare time I volunteer at a local doctor's office. I have clocked in about sixty hours of time since Oct and I will continue volunteering until I leave for college. I am also very active in our school French Club and another french club that meets at a local college. I also am a member of a local photography club. My pictures have won 3rd place in some of the events we have held. In addition, I horseback ride non-competitvely, which I have been doing for seven years.

I also have a paper route which I have had for three years. I have a very good record of providing my customers with perfect service.

I have no major disiplinary infractions, however I have had several detentions for tardies, but they are not on my transcripts.

Any idea on how I would do in admissions? Any additional colleges that I may look into with my grades and records? Any ideas on what I can do to improve my chances? Thanks a lot for taking your time to read this.
