What are my chances?

I'm a white, bi-cultural female. Dad's an immigrant from Switzerland.
ACT: 30.
SAT IIs: Math IIc: 650, Literature: 680, Chemistry: 600
GPA: 3.59
Catholic High School.....doesn't rank

Active in Band, President of Sci-Fi club, member of a couple other clubs.

Community service consists mainly of cancer-related organizations.
Started a pop-tab collecting program 4 years ago and now have 7 schools in 4 districts and 2 states donating tabs to the Houston Ronald McDonald House. I collect tabs and take them to Houston a couple times a year.

Relay for Life and other cancer fundraisers.

I'm a cancer survivor. Got it in 8th grade and again in freshman year. Missed a ton of school, about 25%, in freshman and sophomore years. Some (not all) of my essays were about how cancer changed my life in positive ways....it really did. Not that I'm glad I got it, but it did make me a better person.

I applied RD to Cornell (CALS), Colgate, Dartmouth (my sister just graduated from here last June), Bucknell, UVA, Princeton, Wake Forest, Vandy, Notre Dame, and Washington and Lee. Couldn't apply ED because sister (Dartmouth grad) will be in grad school this fall and we don't know where she'll go and what that will cost.

Yeah, I'm wishful thinking with most of those, and they'll send skinny envelopes, but which ones do you think I might have a chance at? Any?

THANKS for your honest answers!!!!!!

So sorry to hear about your cancer. Happy to hear you are alright. Your SAT and ACT scores are decent, pretty good. Your GPA, however, is not up to par with some of the schools you have listed. Is this 3.5 unweighted? Have you taken any APs and SAT II’s? More info on that and I will chance you. Extra curriculars are great Give me more info! lol Princeton, Cornell and Dartmouth are all reaches, though.(as they are for all! lol)

Thanks bohemiandaisy for answering me.

Those SAT scores were the SAT subject tests. I didn’t take the regular SAT, only the ACT.

The GPA is weighted.

I have taken 5 honors classes and this year am in calculus honors, French IV Honors, and English AP.

Thanks for chancing me.

Sorry about that…I saw 3 SAT scores and hastily concluded they were SAT I. They are all average scores, but they are good-however I think schools like Princeton and Dartmouth would expect higher. Competitive schools such as those want you to be taking practically the most difficult courses your schools offers. If your school does not offer many AP’s you’re off the hook-if they do, then a schedule of all honors and one AP may not seem competitive. I’d say you’d have a chance every where else though. Good luck and keep it up!

;)

omg girl, congrats! seriously, that GPA coupled with cancer beats ANY 4.0/2400

you’re a fighter, and i hope(and am sure) you’ll get in anywhere.

good luck =)

Thanx, stephennn and bohemiandaisy!!!
