<p>I'm going into my senior year I have a 3.3 weighted and a 2.9 unweighted.I had horrible grades my freshmen and sophmore year (2.6 GPA) and I've been really trying hard to bring it up. I'm taking 5 AP classes this year.My SAT is a 1010 490-CR 520-M,I'm planning to take it again so should I apply and not send in my sat scores until the next sat date? (Oct.28).I had a job for 2 years.Was in 3 clubs JROTC,Key Club, and Invisble Children.</p>

<p>I cant tell you that you cant get in, but your chances look pretty slim…considering the fact that the average gpa to get in to UCF is a 3.8 with an ACT score of at least a 25…but those 5 AP classes will sure help you out a bit…but im not sure by how much because your taking it ur senior year…u should of taking them ur junior year…but anyways if u were you id apply EARLY! thats the main key factor and the breakpoint for those who have low GPA’s and a low standerdized test scores…so just apply early and see wat happens! <p>Your GPA isn’t that bad and your APs will definitely help. UCF looks at your senior schedule to an extent and will like that you’re challenging yourself your senior year. Your SAT however is pretty low. I would try the ACT. For me, the ACT was a million times easier (I got a 1070 on the SAT and then a 27 on the ACT the first time I took it). You’re kind of borderline so I’m not sure if you should wait to apply or apply early. At this point, if they accept you, it will more than likely be for summer 2011. </p>

<p>Without knowing all your particulars, keep these things in mind. You need to figure your UCF GPA (remove everything but the core courses, i.e. get rid of P.E., electives, etc and give yourself a .5 bump for honors and a 1.0 bump for AP/IB). That’s the only GPA they work with … this means if you have a lot of A’s in PE, electives, etc … your GPA could go down. So you really need to have this number so you know exactly where you stand. </p>
<p>I agree with the poster above, you might want to consider taking the ACT. I know that some people do better on one test than the other. Maybe you are one of those folks. 
If nothing else, retake the SAT (get a practice book and see if that helps you).</p>
<p>UCF, as with any university, likes to see trends in the right direction. So, you say your grades have gone consistantly upward from the start, that’s good! You want to continue to show that progress. There’s a good chance your 7th semester grades will be evaluated before you get a yes or no, so make sure you do not sluff off this year, especially fall semester. Really nail your fall semester and show them you are taking things seriously. :)</p>
<p>I also don’t know your family or life experience situation. There are other things that come into play (URM, or first generation college student, or family crisises that can affect grades). All of these things will be looked at too, but it’s up to you to convey them in your application and essay. Make sure you have your essay and application looked over by a guidance counselor or parent or someone to make sure you’ve done your absolute best!</p>
<p>I wouldn’t dawdle with getting your application in, but waiting until after Oct test dates wouldn’t be too late at all. Again, remember if you don’t hear anything immediately it could mean you are borderline, and they’ve seen something that means they are still considering you … but they could be waiting for 7th semester grades and/or additional test scores. </p>
<p>Once you submit your application, make sure you check online after a bit and see that they’ve received everything they should, for example, your transcripts. D had to send hers in 3 times because of a snafu with her high school. </p>
