I recently joined a club called “Japanese Animation and Mutimedia Society” which is an anime club. I was expecting the club to discuss and socialize about anime but it turns out it just watching anime for two hours without anyone talking. (I plan to stay in anime club) I’m trying to work on my socialization with people. Since I have a speech disorder so it’s hard people to understand me. I want to overcome that fear of talking to people because of my speech. I need to join clubs that have socialization in them so I can able to make friends. Also, I have hemiplegia cerebral palsy (right half body disabled) so I can’t do clubs like dancing. What types of clubs are good for socializing?
You should suggest to the Anime club that their meetings have informal discussions after the screening. Big bonus there is that nobody has to worry about finding a topic for conversation. You have the topic and the shared interests already set.
Even if it isn’t an “official” part of the club meeting, it would be a great reason to go out for coffee or smoothies afterwards.
Do you belong to any religion? Those group might be good
Is there any type of service group you could join?
Sometimes there may be a “Toastmasters” group which is dedicated to helping people work on their public speaking.
I can’t help but think of “The Breakfast Club” reading this… in essence, every club is to some degree a social club. I would definitely take @Otterma’s advice and suggest some discussion time after the official anime club meeting, or suggest some social events for the club to do or attend. Service clubs, honor societies, and religious organizations are also great places to meet like-minded people, and often involve more discussion.
