What are some colleges that have nearby beaches?

I know of some, but what are some more, especially east coast?

Pepperdine
U San Diego
UC - Santa Barbara
UC - Los Angeles
UC - San Diego
UC - Santa Cruz
UC - Berkeley
UC - Irvine
Miami FL

Well, how close is close? Are we talking a 5 minute walk to the beach or a 30-minute car ride?

Are we talking always-warm-weather east coast beaches, or the standard, rocky, seasonal beaches of further north?

Florida International University
University of Miami
University of Tampa

How do you define "nearby"? For say UCSD or Pepperdine you could literally walk to the beach. But for most of the rest on your list you'd need a car or a bus ride to get to the beach

You can walk from USD, and I think from UCI although it'd take a little bit. UCSB actually owns beachfront property and has dorms with a view of the ocean. :)

I don't know much about east coast beaches. From what I understand, the east coast mainly provides other attractions, like skiing. If you want beaches, tanning, and surfing, you want SoCal, baby. Newport RULES.

The beaches at these various places are quite different. San Diego vs Santa Cruise or even Berkely. Berkeley isn't tha close to the beach, anyway.

If you walk from USD to the beach you are going to have to cross an 8-lane freeway.

Well, my cousin does it, so apparently there's a way.

Well, sure there is a way. There is always a way. Your cousin could walk to New York if he were motivated enough. The point is that USD is not on or all that near the beach. The campus sits on a hilltop in the Clairemont section of San Diego. It's several miles to the beach, and I-5 is in the way.

Gotta agree, it would be quite an adventure walking to the beach from the U of San Diego campus. UCI would be quite a trek too.

Actually of all the schools listed by the OP, UCSB, Pepperdine and UCSD would be the only ones with fairly immediate beach access. Well, maybe Santa Cruz too, but better have a serious wet suit there.

UCLA is miles from the beach and perhaps only about 10 minutes closer than USC. Berkeley and the beach???????? Never thought of SF Bay as the beach -lol and it's certainly not walking distance.

Cal Poly SLO is about 15 minutes drive or so to the beach (again, better have a good wet suit). Loyola Marymount overlooks Playa del Rey and Marina del Rey, but never heard of anyone strolling down to the beach from campus.

Eckerd is very close to a beach.......there is also Jacksonville University in Jacksonville FL. I vote for Eckerd myself.

I don't know anything else about it, but Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI is on a peninsula, surrounded by beautiful New England coastline. Water's cold, though. Bowdoin too.

Maybe the person who mentioned walking to the beach from USD meant the University of California at San Diego, not the University of San Diego. The beach is not within walking distance to USD, but it is to UCSD.

Other schools with beaches closeby:
Pt. Loma Nazarene in San Diego is on a cliff overlooking the ocean, with beach access nearby.
Eckerd isn't just near the beach, it is ON the beach.
St. Mary's College of Maryland is also right on the water, as is the College of the Atlantic in Maine. Fairfield U is very close to the beach as well.

USNA-Annapolis

connecticut college- beaches are 5 minutes away.

Florida Atlantic University
New College of Florida
University of North Florida

University of NC - Wilmington - Wrightsville Beach
College of Charleston, SC

People go to UNCW because it's on the beach. East Carolina University isn't exactly on the beach, but it's not that far. As a matter of fact, most schools in NC have pretty easy access to beaches- some of the best beaches too.

Northwestern has a beach and is a block from another, but you're looking at the end of the school year only
